That was a weird sequence that should end in an incomplete pass.

Texans game to lose at this point, obviously.

Re: 2017 AFC Playoffs
I swear that 3 yard gain to Edelman was a missed false start.

Damn it, Osweiler. I knew you sucked but you had the backdoor cover wide open for you to make my ATS prediction look good.Joe K wrote:I would take the Pats giving 10 or even 13 points, but 16 seems a bit too high to me. I could easily see something like a 24-10 result where New England dominates the game, is up 24-3 late and Houston scored a garbage time TD to cover. And in the unlikely event that Houston's offense actually plays well, they'll easily cover 16.GoodKarma wrote:Scary thing is the actual Janeane Garafalo could start at QB and the Pats would still be an 8 point favorite.Pruitt wrote:Bet on the Pats and may put a few bucks on Pittsburgh.
16 points is a massive amount, but the Pats have given up 87 points in 7 games. I bet we see Garafalo in this one.

Spread came down to 15, so some money must have come in on Houston.Johnnie wrote:Where did all the money go on this today?degenerasian wrote:Pats are -16, jeez
I have lost on back door covers all year. But you know, I wasn't worried at all tonight. That Osweiler is horrible. Mike Lombardi nicknamed him "The Heist" because his contract is such a crime.

Geeeze, I can't believe this game got so much publicity and press. Did anyone really think Houston had a chance in this game? Oh by the way, I have a bridge in the desert I need to sell.
I suppose at least the Texans can buy a ticket and go watch the Cowboys take home the Lombardy Trophy.

Congrats johnnie and rush. I sincerely hope you guys take it down. Someone please end this dallas cowboys bs.
Also....who has 2 thumbs and had the patriots -15.5 in both a parlay and straight out? This guy. Im sad for my team but lying if im saying objectively that i didnt expect a much worse loss. There was not a single solitary moment of this game where i worried about the cover minus houstons last drive where i expected a spite fg.

Re: 2017 AFC Playoffs
Has there been an advanced metric article this season about why the team receiving a kickoff should just take the damn touchback every single time? I swear these return guys take the ball like 3-4 yards deep and only seem to get to the 15-18 max on average. They get it at the 25 otherwise. Is this a coaching issue? I don't get it.
Edit:
Note, I understand Tyreke Hill has a hall pass. But I'm still asking.

congrats rass loma gpj and any other diehard steeler fans im forgetting. hell of a game. new england vs pitt will be fun to watch. i think the afc wins the superbowl no matter what to be honest. id like to see new england vs green bay...brady vs rodgers would be entertaining as hell. sad to be watching from the sidelines as a houston fan knowing my team is 1 qb away from being very very good and knowing we are stuck with anothernyear of osweiler...and knowing if we go 9-7 and win the division next year and get bounced by baltimore in rd 2 they will probably give brock a 3 year 45 million dollar extension...fuck i wish we had hope

Pats open as 4.5 point favorites. I see it being much closer.
This will certainly be the game where we find out if the defense is for real or not. And I have my reservations.

I know he's had a couple really good postseason performances in his career but deep down I think that Alex Smith's limitations will always come back to bite his teams in the playoffs. I think Jim Harbaugh knew this in San Fran and the same applies in KC. I felt coming into the postseason that Pittsburgh was the only AFC team that could win in Foxboro. They'll need to play better than they did yesterday but they have the weapons to do it. Brown and Bell are about as unstoppable as it gets in the NFL.

Re: 2017 AFC Playoffs
I don't know exactly what "blaming" him means, but 4.7 yards per pass play (factoring in sacks) is pretty damn bad. Other than Osweiler (vs. NE) and Cook, it was the worst of any team in any playoff game this season. Yes there were some drops/penalties that may've skewed it low, but Smith-led passing games are consistently low octane.Brontoburglar wrote:as long as you're not making this point by blaming Alex Smith for last nightJoe K wrote:I know he's had a couple really good postseason performances in his career but deep down I think that Alex Smith's limitations will always come back to bite his teams in the playoffs. Re: 2017 AFC Playoffs
Texans had the most playoff wins by a team from Texas, so that's not bad with such an awful QB.

And the fact that the Chiefs had the lowest rushing output of any team in the divisional round helped quite a bit too. If Eric Fisher doesn't hold, or Dontari Poe picks that opening screen pass off, or if Albert WIlson catches that third down conversion pass or if Travis Kelce doesn't shove Chris Cockrell or catches that 40-yard pass to put them inside the 15 or ... you get the point, Alex Smith's "limitations" aren't being discussed.
But there's no point in playing the what-if game. The Chiefs had a good offensive gameplan and executed poorly. Smith has gotten help from his weapons all year and he didn't get it last night.

Re: 2017 AFC Playoffs
They might be discussed still...they would have only had 18 points. Smith didn't lose it but you can argue that he played a significant role in not winning it.

shit, he's not a transcendent quarterback who can make up for shittiness around him. never going to argue that point. but of the Chiefs' three playoff losses with him as the quarterback, none of the three immediately lead with "well Alex Smith cost his team the game."Gunpowder wrote:They might be discussed still...they would have only had 18 points. granted, the only win has been against Brian Hoyer's generosity. but the Steelers were a better team entering the game and they showed why they were last night. Spencer Ware ain't close to Le'Veon Bell.
