And JMU gets a home run on the first pitch of today's game.

Re: Ping! College Baseball Thread
They definitely became a fun underdog to cheer for. It's a shame they couldn't pull it off. I have friends who met at JMU and later married, so it's been fun texting with them (and my nine-year-old really getting into it and messaging their kids with some "Go Dukes"). Really, the nine-year-old got on a good softball team this year and just wanted to watch more and more, so there's been a lot of softball on at the house for the last month.
She's at least happy that Florida State won, though I was hoping to see more of Bama's Madison Fouts after her perfect game, 21 up, 21 down, on her 21st birthday.

How do you all get your death notices since I left?

Only one team that is not from the South or Far West made the sweet sixteen (super-regionals) in NCAA baseball. (13 from the south and 2 from the west).

That's kinda like the Brayden Point stat that's been going around the interwebs today. He wears #21, and over the past two offseasons, (totaling 31 games so far), he's scored 21 goals and 21 assists.Reaper wrote: Mon Jun 07, 2021 9:12 pm They definitely became a fun underdog to cheer for. #1 ranked Arkansas outscored unranked North Carolina State by 17 runs in the best-of-three super-regional qualifier for the College World Series.
But, State won the series.

I'm excited for the tournament. Good to see Stanford make it.
(Gawd knows they would never accept me as a student, but they are just ten minutes down the road so I root for them.)

So far, the College World Series has seen six games played. The lower-seeded (or unseeded) teams have won five of them.

I'm hoping for a Wolfpack appearance in the finals so I can get American Aquarium to cover Omaha on Friday.

If I could've made a bet on that Stanford pitcher throwing a wild pitch after allowing the tying run last night, I would've won a lot of money. You could see it on the kid's face that he was about to let one go.

They were one strike from winning the game, with two out and bases empty. Man, I guess the Pac-10 has really declined in this sport too.

Today is the 44th anniversary of Robert Pollard’s no-hitter for Wright State (5/11/1978), possibly the greatest intersection of sports and music ever.

I don’t think a rich country artist buying himself a few ABs compares to one of the greatest and most prolific musicians of his generation throwing a no-hitter at the major college level.

Has Barry Zito ever drank an entire case of Miller Lite on stage during one concert?

Until last night CMU was 0-5 vs Ball State this year including a loss in the MAC tournament earlier this week.
They’re 2-5 now and MAC champs for the third straight season. #FireUpChips

Texas State and Central Michigan on opposite sides of the bracket so that’s my pick for the CWS Final series.

And MI wins the B1G tournament to steal a bid. Placed in the Louiseville bracket and if their bats stay this hot, they could be a real PITA next weekend.

Stanford is ranked in the top ten and will be hosting a regional tournament. Might go to a game or two!

I was hoping CMU would get placed in that regional and I would have used it as an excuse to visit the nurse next weekend haha.sancarlos wrote: Mon May 30, 2022 12:05 pm Stanford is ranked in the top ten and will be hosting a regional tournament. Might go to a game or two!
