Yeah, I'm fine with it. It's 3 at minimum and he's basically in Wilsonland if he does it again.

I said this in the KTFO thread, but it's important for context:

That kid has been fucking with Ovechkin for the better part of year, going back to some Exhibition games in Russia where they were exchanging jabs and slashes.

In this series Svechnikov has been chirping and jabbing at Ovi every shift. He absolutely green lit that fight with a nod of the head. I don't wish ill of the youngster, but he was writing checks his face couldn't cash

This series just got SUPER UGLY. Caps need to chill the fuck out and play. They are getting worked right now.

25-9 on shots middle of 2nd.

Jumbo Joe out for Game 4. SJ is absolutely getting killed by injuries for months including this series so this probably doesn’t help. (Not concern trolling, think that’s self-evident.)

That second period was peak Canes. They are a VERY scary team when they play like that.

Caps had one shot on goal in the 2nd. Not a typo, not hyperbole. One. Shot.

Remember earlier in this thread when we talked about "it's awesome when good goalkeeping/good D works for you" and how shitty it is in the reverse?

That shit chased my wife upstairs. I'm not fun to be around right now.

In their defense, Columbus has never even won a playoff series, so how can security be expected to handle people bringing brooms?

Rams Fanny & I looked that up literally a minute ago. Was 40-1 which seems crazy low tbh.

16:1 base odds but agreed, this one seems tilted super hard against what’s happening right now.

Crazy night. I mean, not... CRAAAAAZY... Because this felt like it was going this way after the second win.

Sorry Chedda.

I also don't understand why people in Columbus love California Pizza Kitchen so much. What a weird chant.

Cheds, eyemuffs.

This is fucking eerie to me. They just didn't play defense at playoff level and got outworked all over the ice.

I watched the end of the second and most of the third. I'd be hella pissed about Tampa's "ole" defending on 3 of those 4 goals. The Savard goal, in particular.. WTF was Hedman doing on that play.

I still think Tampa takes the series, because if that shit didn't wake them the fuck up... Geez Louise.

(Also, FULL fucking credit to Bobrovsky... He made 4 amazing saves in the 2nd that would've seen Tampa go up 4-0. The best one (probably) right at the horn to end the period.)

This was the save on Kucherov, which is now being trotted out tonight as the series changer. Just want to point out the top notch analysis you get on the Sports Frog, even if we don't have it on the front page.

Isles are fucked because they're apparently playing the rest of their home games at not the Nassau Coliseum.

Also, they played their asses off (and it's always a question how long you can sustain that) and had the perfect game for an opponent that occasionally decides to shoot their own dicks off, and who knows if their next opponent is going to love to shoot their dicks off as much as the Pens.

Last note before I become a casual NHL viewer, but it was weird hearing Tirico call a game last night.

None of the six teams in the 4 majors who had the most wins in a season won the title.

3 lost in the final round: 1906 Cubs, 2007 Patriots, 2016 Warriors.

2 lost in the final four round: 1996 Red Wings, 2001 Mariners.

And now the Lightning. It’s just a coincidence, but an odd one nonetheless.

I feel like this season and postseason needs a good 5000 words from me, especially since I have been so quiet about it, but I don't have the time for it right now.

I will say that the main feeling of being kicked in the nuts occurred last Friday after attending game two. After suffering through that embarrassment in person, then hearing Hedman will remain out, as well as Stralman, and Kuch would be out for Game 3, a comeback just didn't feel like it was in the cards. Stralman, while probably on the downside, had his worst season in Tampa this year. Hedman was excellent at times all season, but also not Norris worthy. It sounds really strange to say this, because he's on our third pairing, but how Cooper started Ruutu over Coburn in games 1&2 was absolutely baffling to me. Obviously, we don't have any idea about how injured anyone is, but that one really felt like a panic move to me.

Good on Columbus, good on Kekalainen, Bob won a playoff series so good on him. Go Leafs Go, (I sprinkled a little on them to win the Cup).

Columbus went all in at the deadline and if they had missed the playoffs by a point, Kekalainen would have been deemed an idiot and fired.

It's a copycat league and if they make a long run, other GMs might go all in at the deadline in future years. That's a good thing.

I think it was Stamkos that said something along the lines of "You don't play a meaningful game for a long time, then you have to ramp it up."

I can tell you, the Caps sure looked like this was an issue the times they won it*. The most painful one was against Montreal and Halak. Brutal series and they just never looked like the team they were in the heart of the NHL season.

* - ETA - By "it" I meant the President's Trophy, if it wasn't clear.

I think some people are looking at it solely as a Lightning collapse, but that's not really very fair to Columbus. I said it before, but that was probably one of the best #8 seeds in the history of the NHL. I know a few #8 seeds have won it all, but I think this Columbus team has more talent than most of them. Those teams (I'm generalizing but stay with me here) won usually because they had a goalie stand on his head for a couple of months, but everyone on Columbus is playing well right now.

Coming into the playoffs, the Blue Jackets had won five playoff games total in 19 years. They basically equaled that in seven nights.
