Earlier this week I thought I had a funny idea to use “Let’s Fuck Brandon” but then Google assured me I wasn’t unique.

Between crap like this, Aaron Judge and his false equivalent horse shit anti-vax positions, the Three True Outcome poisoned-mentality that is ruining the sport before our very eyes, and well, my lack of giving a fuck that the lockout ended really suggests to me I don’t care about baseball any longer..

1) It makes the game less interesting
2) It has been used to suppress salaries
3) Think before you go glib.

it's a fundamental stylistic flaw (if you want to phrase it like that) of the way baseball is played that was always going to get exposed at some point -- just like basketball teams were going to realize that the midrange jumper was the less efficient option than the three-point shot after the three-point line was introduced

I don't think it's the teams' fault that baseball has become less watchable in people's eyes than it was 40 years ago from that aspect

I'm intrigued to read how teams focusing on specific skillsets and accomplishments has led to the suppression of salaries across the board instead of that suppression coming from teams realizing they can manipulate the fundamental contract structures across the league.

the more I think about it, it feels that baseball and football are on the trajectories they are on because the inefficiency exploitation in both sports have opposite effects on the entertainment aspect.

had football teams not rightly realized that passing the ball was the best way to move up and down the field and score, the game doesn't become nearly as entertaining as it has over the last 2-3 decades. we all know how conservative football coaches can still be in the 2020s. meanwhile, baseball teams rightly realized what can be done to help better win baseball games -- and those things have, in many people's eyes, made the game far less watchable than it was. though I can't get upset at a baseball team doing what it needs to do to win, even at the expense of batted balls in play.

It's about gambling. People can casually gamble and set up fantasy weekly. You have to be a degenerate to gamble on baseball.

An NFL game can be garbage but there it still something on the line.

it's circular. betting on football and playing fantasy football is more enjoyable and popular because more points are being scored and offenses are better

The problem in baseball is that we’ve learned, beyond any doubt really, that power pitching and power hitting produce the optimal result for winning. But it’s a very sub-optimal result for watching.

This is true and fair and yet one of the problems with baseball fans is that a decent sized number of them that agree with all or most of this then still say things like “it’s important that pitchers still bat even though they suck at it because tradition”

true. throw in the demos of baseball fans and there's an outsized group that just loves nothing more than getting that runner over to second with a sacrifice bunt after a leadoff single

I've been rolling it around in my brain for a few months and I'm only growing more convinced that 3 ball walks are a good solution.

Awesome. So he’ll always be remembered as one of the Original Guardians.
And his one problem is he didn’t go to Russia that night because he had extracurricular activities, and they froze to death.

I see Ke’Bryan Hayes and the Pirates came to a agreement on a eight-year, $70 million contract extension that includes a club option for a ninth season.

If his bat comes around, that deal is a steal. He's already an exceptional fielder. They should extend Bryan Reynolds now.

What an insane stat. Joey Votto has 8,132 career plate appearances. Tonight is the only time he has ever popped out to the pitcher.
