Houston not impressing me much. When a 16 seed shoots 5-33 from 3 pt range, as a 1 seed you need to be up by 25 points.

They are also missing their top player.

Yeah I saw how banged up they were. I guess that played into it.

It's a little strange the selection committee placed a 1 seed in a section of a region where they could potentially play a 9 seed home game. Birmingham is 112 miles from Auburn.

Virginia’s MO seems to be to win the whole thing or lose to a team that hasn’t won a tournament game since the Carter administration and I suppose that could be worse.

A lot of teams not expected to win go to slow down ball too early with a decent lead (to be fair, UK does this even when favored and it makes me want to pull Calipari's hair out). But Kenesaw is playing some pretty great half court offense, so it hasn't hurt them for the past 4-5 minutes.

This rules mostly because I can't imagine hearing the names Nunge and Kunkel for more than one game

Well I jinxed their halfcourt offense.

Fairly Ridiculous is giving Purdue all they can handle. 54-53 with 4 minutes to go.

I haven't been impressed by Purdue the team all year. They just happen to have a brontosaurus playing Center.

Painter is shitting the bed as a coach. Take the fucking freshman point out of the game. He has been complete shit. There has to be someone else that can handle the ball. And if not that falls on Painter to for failing to recruit ball handlers.

FDU almost beat Michigan once as a 16-seed. This seemed inevitable.

Purdue's guards were SLOW. They looked like they were playing in snowboots. And the one guy was scared to shoot.

My boss is a Purdue Grad. Wearing the merch today and everything. Do I say anything, or just not mention it...ever.

Tell him that Matt Painter has lost to a 16, 15, and a 13 seed in his last three tournaments.

PC didn't even play that poorly tonight. Kentucky dudes are just bigger, faster, and stronger. They don't look like any team I've seen in the Big East this year. I guess the fact that our superstar player transferred from Kentucky due to lack of PT should have clued me in.

I mean, we beat them on the road earlier in the season and the other 2 UConn games although we lost just didn't have that vibe of "there's no way we can beat this team."

You have me at a disadvantage. Is PC your team? If not, who are you referring to in the BEast?

Nvm - Providence's issue this year is they just weren't deep enough. Oh, and they always get the crazy eye when playing UConn.

Yeah man. My dad started taking me to PC games when I was 5 years old. The last 2 games against UConn kind of sucked but if you mean like ever...I have enough good memories of them beating UConn in the last 30-40 years to not consider them the bane of our existence or anything. Especially for a school of like 3,000 students.

No I meant Providence has used UConn as a measuring stick since Calhoun came aboard, but that's probably because they both entered the league as charter members in 1979. It is what it is.

I know UConn fans that *hate* the Friars. I don't. I mean, it is what it is. All the teams successes ultimately lift the other boats.

To be fair, if the officials give the timeout like they should have the odds are massively in their favor.

I get that, but that play gets called a jump ball 99x/100.

I'm back! It was a brutal start to the tournament, but thanks to Arizona and especially Purdue for making it a little less bad. I sure do wish I understood why UVA never plays like itself in the first round games. It's like a program curse that carries over to new players.
