I'm the wrong one to ask, but I was a LOT of SEC network. And will catch a few ACC basketball games usually as well.

Everybody on the west coast wants to watch the west coast schools. But the pac 12 network was/is a fiasco. Couldn’t agree to deals with people like Directv, Verizon and YouTubeTV (and others?) really fucked them.

I watch a LOT of BTN. And not just for football coverage. Lots of sports. Baseball, hockey, softball, soccer. And not just game with MI in it.

And I'm not ashamed to say I like some of their goofy tailgate/travel/eating shows highlighting various places around B1G cities. Oh, and they do a good job with the Journey shows, that do a 30 for 30 type thing on a couple of subjects each week.

But, kind of to Citgo's point, I very rarely linger on the SEC channel.. mostly out of spite. :D (Really, mostly because I don't have a real connection to those schools and that conference.) And the ACC Network. Pretty much never.

I also watched the two old guys talk about basketball on acc. Made me miss sports talk radio and the 1972 red Sox first base platoon. Is not the reason the acc will implode. That will be the domain of some administrators who will bring firy rain and scorn upon their lineage

When the dust settles the SEC may rue not getting in the feeding frenzy. Because the B1G (and to lesser extent Big 12) are now national conferences and the SEC is a regional conference.

And to AB and NLFC’s points a LOT of people watch the B1G and SEC networks. A UM-ND COLLEGE HOCKEY game on BTN some Saturday last February was the most watched prime time program that night in the state of Michigan. Most watched, period. (Though granted Saturday isn’t a peak TV viewing night.)

Oregon State hasn’t won an outright conference title in 59 years so this might be their chance.

So there's talk that the ACC is discussing invitations to Cal and Stanford.

I suppose the Any Coast Conference has a nice ring to it.

I guess the B1G is squeezing those two for even lower percentage shares to enter? Academically (AAU), those two make the most sense of all the Pac-$ schools.

Would be awesome if the B1G was totally mercenary about it and booted Nebraska and Rutgers to clear room for Stanford and Cal.

Wait until the courts determine that the student athlete is actually an employee of the school. Then unions will form, and organized demands about things like minimizing travel will start to occur.

Yeah, that, to me, is what is really problematic about all of this. At some point, it's like... Do we just have players take the semester where they play the sport off?

I know they are working on having "pods" and having teams partner up and travel together to LA and the PNW and vice versa. But really, how do you pretend these kids are going to school at this point. At a minimum, a soccer player is going to get on a plane and fly from the Midwest to LA/PNW/SFO for a Thursday night game (so they leave on WED latest) and then have a game on Sunday and fly back. So, like maybe 2.5 days of in person class... at best???

That's getting pretty ridiculous.

With teams on the east coast and the west coast, you could say that the league is amphibious.

Now that's an ACC joke and reference I can support.

There’s like 8 “Week 0” games in 2 weeks and the only one on ESPN is UMass-New Mexico Stare which makes me wonder if they lost a bet.

My favorite Week 1 matchup is definitely Miami at Miami.

One man’s opinion but consider hammering the unders for the next two or three weeks until the general public catches up with the play clock changes.

There should be about 10-15 less plays per game and that’s going to have an effect on scoring. The public generally prefers overs to begin with.

The production of this Navy ND game does not give me hope for NBC/Cock getting a bunch of B1G games this year. The color guy is horrendous. The halftime highlights didn't show all the 1H TDs. Marina Taylor says "beware ND fans, last year ND went out to a 35-0 lead before Navy scored 19 unanswered points and the game ended 35-32". I'm no Einstein, but I'm pretty sure that's 32 unanswered points.

If Jason Garrett is involved can assume it will be warmed over bullshit. Hopefully this is just the (N)D-team.

The Fox Sports score bar has the team logos (at an angle) and nickname (written in a graffti-style font) that screams "1998".

One of the kids on my son's boat is a recruited scholarship athlete this year at Oregon State. I think there is a 50% chance his team won't exist before he graduates because of the financial impact of all this.

When they join next season, the three new teams will make it 22 different conference football opponents (by my count - they're spread across the American, ACC, Big 12, and Big Ten) for Syracuse since I enrolled in 1992. It seems like it should be more.

I'll take posts that didn't age well in the second half for $800, Ken.
