I dunno... When you think about it... Those names are repeated over and over and over again. Roughly equivalent to Shakespeare and Dickens in terms of turning up in curriculum and popular culture hundreds of years after their prime.

Yeah, it's not even that they are listened to... They are studied and just "known" because classical isn't a style or fad that runs its course in 20-30 years.

I would simply go with the fact that these guys have been dead for centuries yet all of us recognize their names would indicate their level of memorability.
