Re: NBA 2024-25
One of them turns 26 at the end of the month, has four top 6 MVP finishes in the last five years, and has the ball in his hands on every possession on offense while being an elite creator both for himself and teammates.Shirley wrote: Sun Feb 02, 2025 2:25 pmConsidering that basketball includes both offense and defense, why is everyone so sure that Luka is miles better than AD? Sure, AD gets hurt a lot, but he's a MUCH more complete player than Luka. Luka is fun to watch on offense, but he barely even pretends to play defense. AD has hot a lot more team success in his career.
The other turns 32 in five weeks, has played in more than 62 games once in the last six seasons (and the year he played in 62, he had a 4 1/2 month in-season break due to the pandemic), and has made the All-Star Game three times in the last six years (it's four in seven with this year).
Defensive rating for the two of them the last four seasons: 107, 113, 113, 110 for one and 109, 108, 109, and 108 for the other. Maybe Davis is not that much more complete a player.

Re: NBA 2024-25
Luca got a team with Kyrie Irving of all people and a few good role players who couldn't shoot threes to the finals last year. Davis's success was playing well with LeBron which got them a Covid championship and nothing else.Shirley wrote: Sun Feb 02, 2025 2:25 pm Considering that basketball includes both offense and defense, why is everyone so sure that Luka is miles better than AD? I wouldn't trust that meat anymore
Re: NBA 2024-25
Not saying it’s skewing either way, but this Rockets @ Knicks game has been horribly officiated. Giff knows what’s up.
Re: NBA 2024-25
The part I’ve been paying attention to has me agreeing with you. Skewing positive for the Rockets it seems for sure.

Re: NBA 2024-25
I haven't watched 2 minutes of NBA this season.
Now I'll be catching at least highlights of the Lakers going forward. Fascinated to see how that plays out.

Re: NBA 2024-25
Somehow I missed that De'Andre Hunter got traded to the Cavs. Good for him. He got bumped to a championship-quality squad AND he gets to reunite with Ty Jerome. Those two were super tight at Virginia where they led the team to the 2019 national championship. Two Cavaliers on the Cavaliers!
Totally Kafkaesque

Pistons winning and what not. Detroit on fire
Re: NBA 2024-25
All four Motown teams have made or are in line for the playoffs. Good cycle for The D.

Random HS game maybe. MAYBE. That is a really unusual score, yes.

Ha! When I was going through Twitter earlier and saw the final, I literally thought "hey they won the second half by 9!".mister d wrote: Wed Feb 12, 2025 11:10 am Giff conveniently doesn't mention the Bulls won the second half.

The All-Star tournament was ever slightly more interesting than these last few years, but we did get an En Vogue reunion. All four.

Why worry about it? They’ll both be Lakers by 2030
Re: NBA 2024-25
It happened on a Friday night so maybe we missed it when it happened, but does anyone want to talk about the Joker putting up the first 30/20/20 game ever?

Re: NBA 2024-25
I guess I was surprised it had not happened before. Jokic having a dominating game has become ho-hum around here...although he should still be the MVP even though I'm sure they'll give it to SGA this year. It's a crime that Jokic doesn't get more credit national attention.L-Jam3 wrote: Sun Mar 09, 2025 1:52 pm It happened on a Friday night so maybe we missed it when it happened, but does anyone want to talk about the Joker putting up the first 30/20/20 game ever?

He almost beat the US in the Olympics in a game where it was the best player against the 2nd through 13th(?) best players. I imagine there were easily 200 americans not there who would have been his second best teammate.

Heading to Pelicans/Hornets on Sunday, a matchup of 2 of the 4 teams in the Association with less than 20 wins. NBAheads, what should I be looking out for with either of these teams?

Watching Court of Gold (Olympic basketball doc on Netflix). 2nd episode features Team Canada. It's hilarious to watch Dillon Brooks interviewed...he talks so deliberate and slow like he is trying so hard to not sound like a crazy person.

Mat ishbia has pissed away Devin Bookers prime. All he had to do was nothing
Re: NBA 2024-25
Both of these videos are great. Tons of great NBA players talking about the first time somebody busted their ass in the NBA. There's a wide range of answers it's not just Kobe, MJ, Shaq, etc.

I binged that on a plane last night...and thought it was really well done. And came away with a lot more respect for Kevin Durant and just how much he loves playing basketball.GoodKarma wrote: Wed Mar 26, 2025 8:30 am Watching Court of Gold (Olympic basketball doc on Netflix). 2nd episode features Team Canada. Also...a ton of respect for the Serbian team and just how excited, and drunk, they were after winning the Bronze Medal. Jokic looks like a fun hang.

Re: NBA 2024-25
The Nuggets have fired Michael Malone.
Scapegoated for some poor roster construction decisions.
ETA: And GM Calvin Booth, which I missed the first time. File it under "housecleaning", then. Still probably a mistake, but Booth can't undo what's been done.

I don't recall ever seeing coaches of playoff teams being fired this close to the playoffs, and it's happened twice now this season.
