Good story about the emergency goaltender for Las Vegas' ECHL team and his "real" job -- a Neil Diamond impersonator.

Had the misfortune of watching that one live. The Panthers had the puck for like, 3 minutes and scored about 12 goals.

The Flyers were really needing one more chippy guy who doesn't score much.

Semyon Varlamov accused of being a complete piece of shit.

EDITED to more accurately describe the situation.

If these allegations are true, then there is no defending Varlomov. Sounds like they are probably true and that he is truly a piece of shit.
But, without knowing much myself, I would however note that the girlfriend filed these accusations after he broke up with her and cut her off from his bank account. Wouldn't be the first time an ex got vindictive and made something up.

SC is right. These allegations are horrific, however, without some sort of independent eyewitness, it remains "he said, she said". The court of public opinion, the court of law, and what really happened are often times three different things.

Also, many articles say this has been an on-again off-again relationship. They broke up in Russia after abuse so why did she follow him to the States? Did she think US laws would protect her better? Was it just for the bank account?

Bettman, talking to the Columbus paper, said this:

"We constantly monitor and look at the game," Bettman said. "There was no rule that was violated to elevate things to the level of a suspsension [sic]. It’s something we’ll continue to discuss.

And yet:

Rule 28 - Supplementary Discipline

In addition to the automatic fines and suspensions imposed under these rules, the Commissioner may, at his discretion, investigate any incident that occurs in connection with any Pre-season, Exhibition, League or Playoff game and may assess additional fines and/or suspensions for any offense committed during the course of a game or any aftermath thereof by a player, goalkeeper, Trainer, Manager, Coach or non-playing Club personnel or Club executive, whether or not such offense has been penalized by the Referee.

It's easy to believe that the league simply doesn't want to do anything. The thing about Emery is that even the goons who get paid to do nothing other than fight at least know that if the other guy doesn't want to go, that's it, there's nothing.

Remember when Patrick Roy's kid (Jonathan Roy) was playing goalie for the Quebec Ramparts when Patrick was running that team from ownership down to coach? It was in many ways the same thing; a goaltender skating the length of the ice to fight the other goaltender (hockey's version of sumo wrestling) and the other goalie wanted nothing to do with it so Roy, as did Emery, flat-out assaulted the guy. Jonathan Roy ended up being charged with assault. Not by the league, no, but by the local cops. Here's that story. And here's the YouTubia of it. Jonathan Roy was suspended and fined by the league. He was "discharged" from the criminal assault charge. And now? He's out of hockey, completely, and pursuing a music career as some sort of pop idol. Yes, really.

In defense of Quebec, they do have the Ligue Nord-Américaine de Hockey which is pretty much all fights and once or twice per game some hockey breaks out.

Holy crap! Getting pile-driven into the ice like that would hurt like hell! What the hell was that guy thinking? And what if the mascot was a girl?

Oh, for sure. That could have easily broken the person's neck. No idea who wears the Marty the Marmot costume. Absolutely could be a chick, a senior citizen (Victoria is loaded with them), name it.

Sabres were the biggest Vegas underdog in a game since the 2010 season against the Sharks tonight. So of course they win 5-4. Can't predict hockey.

hmm

No one on the ice thought it went in. Myers might have known it did, but he wasn't going to say anything. From the view on the ice, it looked like it was under Miller's leg and when he got up, it was under his leg. When did the ref 'intend' to blow the whistle.

Flames acquire Smid from Edmonton for a bag of pucks. Absolute steal.

Oilers cant defend so they trade their best Dman to free up cap space to sign Bryzgalov hahahaha

Watched your Flames in person last night Degen. Props to them for fighting back when it looked like they where going to get blown out of the barn.

Also strange that the Av's ice girls are sponsored by an ice maker, they have all the free ice they want!

It was the same in STL the night before. Down 3-0 they came back to lose 3-2.

They are really fun to watch this year even if they have no chance of making the playoffs. A young hard-working team is better than an old lazy team ive seen for 2 decades.

Now they're saying three months. Which is seriously optimistic.

Doesn't this put Yzerman in a difficult situation? If not a conflict of interest? Because if Stamkos gets rushed back you just know that the loudest voices will be saying he wanted Stamkos on Canada's Olympic team.
