The best penalty shootout you'll ever see. Last nights Libertadores

Newell's Old Boys vs Boca Juniors.

The women are goin' at it again.

Canada -v- USA at BMO Field (home of Toronto FC) about to get underway. Full house there, beautiful day. Love that stadium; cityscape in the background, gorgeous pitch. Hands down the largest number of Canadian flags I've ever seen at a sporting event. The stands were a sea of red'n'white pre-game. It was impressive; looked like a top-level Euro game.

Of course, last time these two met, things were intriguing. That would have been Old Trafford during the London Olympics. We'll see just how friendly this friendly becomes.

Pre-game hype column

Neymar sported an Oregon State hat at his signing with Barça the other day. Nice.

I am sure that has nothing to do with $ from Phil Knight and the Swoosh. On the other hand...that is the outfit he chose when signing with his new team? Doesn't Barca demand white shirt, black suit, and skinny black tie (or ugly tux). Feel like that is how we always see Messi.

Sid Seixeiro rips Junior Hoilett for training in Canada while committing to nobody.

" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false;

Hoilett is one of those ridiculous soccer players. He can play for England, Jamaica or Canada. He mostly grew up in Canada.
He not that good so England is out of the question. We all thought that he would go to Jamaica or Canada based on which team made the HEX. Jamaica made and he still won't play for them. I think he's waiting for Jamaica to actually qualify to the World Cup then walk in the door at which point I hope the Jamaicans don't want him.

I hope he never plays internationally for anyone. I'd rather Canada suck then have players like this who are just winking and laughing at the media and keeping everything secretive, like they're so great.

Sid Sexiero at Sportsnet went on an absolute rant about this. He is very passionate about Canadian soccer, and is a huge supporter of the Canadian men's team. One of the best soccer guys on mainstream Canadian media.

Sid rocked that.

This guy Hoilett must be enjoying feeling like Ronaldo.

Whoooaaaa! Didn't see that coming. Love it, though. Add some size and toughness to the Gunners, another aerial threat in the box. Not sure where you slot him in Arsene's typical lineup, though. Does he play as a withdrawn striker? I kind of like Cazorla in that role. He doesn't have the speed to play on the wing, and he is too offensive minded to play in the back two midfield positions. I'd prefer to see Arsenal play a 4-4-2 anyways, so this could be good, or maybe even put him up top? Does he play striker at all? I've always liked Fellaini, and you can never have too many Belgian's around. I'd love to see Benteke next.

Can I assume Arsenal freed up the 23 Million pounds by cancelling Denilson's contract and parting ways with Squillaci? Must be it.

Benteke is going back to Chelsea, no?

Also, I bet Fellaini ends up at United.

Lukaku goes back to Chelsea, Benteke is rumored to Arsenal or Chelsea. Fellaini to United makes more sense, but the fact that Arsenal actually opened up the purse strings is a huge step, and a big sign in my eyes that they actually meant it when they said this summer is going to be different and that they have a large kitty to work with. Either that, or they want some big name signings to think they are serious about bringing in other big names.

The Men in Blazers said it best. It must have been Roger Bennett, that Arsenal fans finally have a summer to look forward to after losing their best players every summer for the past several years. Arsenal no longer have a "best player" for the top teams to go after. Hooray! Higuain soubnds the most likely, and Arsenal certainly need strikers more than anything else. Jovetic gets the most ink, but I see that going the way of Mata and Eden Hazard. I read countless articles how those guys were practically guaranteed to go to Arsenal, then after Chelsea signed them, Mata said Arsenal were never even in the running. Jovetic sounds like he wants to stay in Italy, despite the media seeming to want him to move to the Emirates.

If they spend the funds they get for Bale, they'll be fine. And finish just behind the Arsenal!

It's a hoax.

This is FIFA's real website for the 2014 World Cup: http://www.fifa.com/worldcup/index.html" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false;

Your link is different.

Still, it's a clever hoax. It's funny, I'll give it that.

At $14, I kinda doubt it.

Some good Engrish on that website:
Details
The Arsenal which be named red army has a huge fans. Each football team has their own symbol jersey, the popular new New Arsenal Home long soccer jersey 2013 in the badge below also has a word “Forward” to encourage players don’t fear difficult and get more courage of victory.
Not sure if that is Joycean or Orwellian.

It was the Adidas logo and design I referred to. All recent Arsenal jerseys are made by Nike. This purports to be next year's jersey, which is as of yet unreleased. And will be made by Puma, not Adidas.

My bad; I knew they switched away from Nike, but I assumed to adidas, not Puma. I need to pay closer attention, and a more involved Gooner.
