I recently had a tremendous fight over Sublime as "awful" versus "acceptable guilty pleasure from the 90s" in which I (rightly) suggested Bradley Nowell should have died twice they were so bad.

The kind of fun part of this is finding songs I sort of like to show the gap between my tastes and how real fans view a band.

Yeah that whole album is far from their best work. I like In The Evening though. Actually, I don't hate any of those songs, but they pale in comparison to LZ's good stuff.\

(p.s. I changed the board to allow up to 6 quote levels just so I make this post.)

Beatles - Oh Blah Dee, Oh Blah Dah (Hey, Jude is a close second. Fuck those songs right in the peehole.)
Rolling Stones - Emotional Rescue. (WTF, man? Try to find an actual hook in that song. The. Worst.)

Along the lines of Steve Miller, I will submit the following artists for the "anything by this/these asshole(s)" category:

* Hall & Oates (fucking... I just... HATE.)
* Huey Lewis & The News (die in a fire)

The Pogues - Fairy tale of NY

Most people love this song, but it really is not up to anything they did in the 1980's and after that, there was far too much alcohol and drugs involved.

It's got to be in the context of Worst Mixtape Ever, so "on a relative scale" stuff doesn't work. (Says the guy that didn't start the thread and is just throwing out his own interpretation, having chimed in on the 3rd page.)

She's holdin' leg wonderin' how to feel them.
Would you get behind them if you could only find them?
She's my baby, she's my baby,
yeah, it's alright.

She's got hair down to her fanny.
She's kinda jet set, try undo her panties.
Everytime she's dancin' she knows what to do.
Everybody wants to see if she can use it.
She's so fine, she's all mine,
girl, you got it right.

She's got a dime all of the time,

Oh, I want her, said, I got to have her,

It is a Christmas song made to make money. It is not a good Pogues song, it is a good Christmas song. I would argue it is their worst single (while they were all still able to read/write/sing/play) and their worst by a good margin.

I would also argue that post this song, the group was always going to die...

Going a little more old-school, I love me some Sinatra, but "Theme from New York, New York" (albeit a cover) is loved by exactly zero Sinatra fans.
