Great effort! Well-earned draw.

And for once the Americans didn't get screwed by the refs on the road.

DeMarcus Beasley is a fuckin' MAN.

The back line looked pretty damn good.

Excellent points, both.

Good game. Beasley was monstrous. (Thanks again for the vid hook up)

Guzan spending the last few months dodging bullets at Villa came in handy those last few minutes.

So, this Besler guy, this excellent performance a surprise, or expected from his MLS history?

He was awarded best defender in MLS last year, so I'd say not surprised. I know the circumstances aren't the same, though, so it was pretty awesome to see him play so well. And 80 minute with a yellow card as well against those diving cheats. He and Omar were fantastic. Looked possibly like a center back pairing for the next several years. Now if we could just get left back figured out.

What BP said. Besler has been incredible at SKC. He and Collin are the best pairing in the MLS and a huge reason that SKC is as good as they are.

I thought Beasley was up and down. He made some obvious mistakes, but also made some sensational plays. It looked like he got more comfortable and confident as the game went on, despite the bad leg.

Overall, that was solid as our D has looked in a long while. Our forwards kinda sucked, but I guess that was considered OK for last night.

I always read the player rating articles on the major sites. I think it is interesting to see perception differences after this one. Clearly DMB had an up and down game. the low ratings on Jozy are the complaints that Jurgen has had. Just not figuring it out in the international game like he is is in the land of wooden shoes.

SI/ESPN
Guzan 7.5/7
Cameron 5/6
Omar G 8/9
Besler 7.5/8
Run DMB 6/4
Zuzi 5.5/5.5
Bradley 6/7
Edu 4/5
Clint 5/4
Gomez 5.5/5
Jozy 4/4
Eddie J 4.5/5.5
Brad Davis 4/4
Shea 4/5

I've been happy with Fabian Johnson's performance at left back.

Anyone going to watch USMNT vs. Panama tonight? I'm going to try to stay awake for the whole thing, but we'll see if that happens. No Jermaine Jones (injury) or Graham Zusi (yellow card suspension) tonight, and there's all sorts of speculation on the starting line up.

Also will be interesting to see if the temporary grass pitch is a factor tonight. If it's bumpy, expect to see a lot of long balls on the counter attack.

Definitely. USA-Panama is being shown in Canada tonight. 10pm Eastern on Sportsnet ONE.

Is this pretty much a must win for Panama? Barring the completely unexpected, Honduras and Jamaica won't qualify. That leaves four teams aiming at three spots. Right now Panama is fourth. The USA, CR and Mexico are all on 7 points, Panama on 6.

Today's Mexico/CR game doesn't seem to be televised up here (degen?). Any idea where that can be seen? ESPN Deportes maybe?

The Sept. 10 qualifier vs. Mexico is in Columbus. I'm trying to get tickets for that game.

Don't bury Honduras just yet. But they need to start winning.

Isn't there a play-in game for CONCACAF #4 vs CONMEBOL/Oceania #whatever?

Grant Wahl had tweeted that the Iraq-Japan qualifier in Doha, Qatar had to be stopped in the middle of each half for the teams to take a water break because it was so hot. So that 2022 World Cup in Qatar ought to be a hoot.

Yes. Fourth place gets some air miles; they play New Zealand.

Way too early to call it must win, especially playing the US on the road (in the US). That is a game Panama would be thrilled to tie.

I completely fucked up the mission on this one. Seattle is the shortest of ferry rides from here. Gak!

Anyone know if that game is sold out? I'm off today and can easily get there. Very easily. Worst case scenario is I end up at the Mariners/Astros game.

It is sold out, but you should be able to get tix on the secondary market for pretty close to face value, especially if you're getting a single.

Thanks. Yes, I just need a single. Five hours to get there. And I could use some adventure. What the hell. I'm heading out. Should be fun. I even have a place to leave the car in parking-hell YYJ. Sweet.

USA! USA!

Not in Canada.

In the US, Univision I think.
But if you going to Seattle it doesn't matter now!

Both the Mexico and USA games are on ESPN.

Gotta say it's weird seeing ESPN carrying Mexico's qualifiers. Last Friday, I was visiting a friend, and he doesn't have BeIn Sports, so we couldn't watch the US-Jamaica game. But we could watch the Mexico-Panama game broadcast in Spanish on Telemundo. Because, you know, that makes sense.

I failed to make the mental connection that I have a client in Columbus. Certainly I'll need to do a site visit the second week of September.

Tickets aren't for sale yet.

Atta boy, Cerrano. Glad to know I'll have someone to chat with before I fall asleep.

I'm watching the Mexico game, and frankly, Mexico are having a shocker. Costa Rica has had the better chances by a long stretch.
