I'm stunned a 76 year old is going to retire from politics. I thought the move was to make sure the Senate was his retirement home and hospice care. He's so young.
If he had an easy re-election, perhaps. But he'd have to either fight like hell to get renominated by the GOP here or run as an independent.

U.S. Rep. Lauren Boebert was escorted out of a Sunday night performance of the “Beetlejuice” musical in downtown Denver, accused by venue officials of vaping, singing, recording and “causing a disturbance” during the performance.

Really? I always assumed that Mormon Poster Boy Romney could have that seat as long as he wanted it.

The son of one of our friends was in Aspen for Labor Day weekend, and texted that he saw Boebert in a bar there, drunk as shit at about 3 o'clock in the afternoon, doing shots of tequila from her friend's cleavage.

He'd skate to a win if he ran as an independent. But the GOP here is almost as crazy as the GOP in Southern states.

Shows you how safe her seat is when she in Aspen one weekend and Denver the next, neither of which are anywhere close to her district (major cities being Grand Junction and Pueblo... 100s of miles from Denver and/or Aspen.)

I expect her to get trounced. She only won by a sliver last time, and there wasn’t even much organized support for her opponent. Same guy is opposing her again, and this time he’s got organized support.

ps: Grand Junction is only 120 miles from Aspen. We went there regularly when I was a kid.

Let's just say that Mitt ain't a fan of JD Vance:

In the end, Romney will win. Like Dole and McCain before he’ll be remembered more for his rare moments of true centrism and less for the other 95 percent of the time.

But I can live with that because he never got to wield true power. The voters spoke.

No idea why they bothered with something so fancy.
On the day of my first visit, he showed me his freezer, which was full of salmon fillets that had been given to him by Lisa Murkowski, the senator from Alaska. He didn’t especially like salmon but found that if he put it on a hamburger bun and smothered it in ketchup, it made for a serviceable meal.
Jesus Christ, these two.

I think that's more "the grass is always greener". I've seen other conservatives talk about how united the left is compared to them.

That's kind of fascinating.

I wonder if it's a factor of both sides having a lot of bickering in areas that only they frequent, while the MSNBC and Fox channels are frequented by "the other side" so it looks monolithic because they aren't in the weeds of the opposition?

Not sure how to better articulate that...

I think they're probably reacting to the fractions that Trump has created in the GOP. They used to be way more coordinated than the Dems. That's probably been less true the past few years. The left have a very clear common enemy in Trump, even if there are still a ton of fractured policy goals and passions. The right isn't sure if they're the MAGA crazies or the buttoned-up, old-school, pipe-smoking, capitalist bigots they used to be.
