If you want a reason to not be worried about Biden v Trump look to Ohio. 2024 will be a national referendum on abortion rights.

I didn't have Ohio on the states I'd be willing to move to in 2023, but here we are.

The wife quickly nixed that idea, but still.

Trust me when I tell you Texas is way better than Ohio in literally almost every regard including politically.

I dunno man. When I can feasibly pass through a town on one of our trips to New Mexico or Colorado where they can stop me and ask me why I'm going there to make sure it's not to help one of the females in my vehicle from getting an abortion, there's not much worse than that.

Yeah true that sucks. Still, Ohio is probably almost as fascist but with shittier weather, food and people.

That' a little broad brushstrokes offensive Brian. The state legislature in Ohio is gerrymandered to hell so religous zealots control it but the people of Ohio clearly are majority not that. I know a lot of people in Cincinnati, Columbus, Springfield and Cleveland who are kind progressive folks, and they are actually, probably, a majority. When they get a chance to speak, like on Issue 1, it is clear where the will of the people is.

Also, are there a lot of "Dems in Array" headlines this AM? Prob not, I suppose. Polling is terrible but Dems keep winning. Makes me question the polling and the bullshit narrative from DC based pundits.

Hell, I had to listen to a month of fluffing about the Republican wave in Virginia as pundits pretended the VA governor is not an extremist, and instead of waking up today to Rebups controlling all 3 branches the Dems held the Senate and took back the House.

tl/dr - FUCK the narrative.

Polls are completely useless now. Utter trash and a waste of time for the people doing the polling, let alone the people that report on them like they're all factual.

Sure there’s lot of great people everywhere but Ohio will probably never vote for a Dem for President or put one in the Senate again for the rest of our lifetimes. In fact I’ll go so far to say Texas will go for the Dems again before Ohio does.

*coughcough*

I've been saying this since they overturned Roe.

ETA - It really doesn't help the GOP position with dozens and dozens of stories, segments, podcasts out there chronicling the horror stories that have emerged in places like Idaho, where there are extreme punishments for doctors, so almost all of the OBGYN professionals are fleeing the state. Legislators basically shrugging and saying it's worth the price to make sure no "unborn babies are lost."

Draconian and placing the lives of 'unborn babies" over the lives of an actual person is just beyond the pale. These idiots never really thought actually see the day that Roe was overturned, so they made these laws over-the-top "to make a point." They are on record saying this.

Now the laws are actually in place and these idiots don't know how to amend things and not piss off the zealots.

Fuck Youngkin. And this loss is probably going to keep him from a presidential run, which I think is good because that dude is a lot more dangerous than DeSantis. He's extremely personable and knows how to "appeal to both sides" in public, but suck the MAGA teet at the appropriate time and venue.

The guy who is going to face him is the guy who just orchestrated the failed abortion issue campaign. Brown is savvy as fuck. I'm gonna go ahead and not chalk that one up if that's ok.

Sherrod Brown getting the nod as Hillary's VP instead of the nothingness of Tim Kaine a forgotten but still applicable what-if scenario.

Not to put words in his mouth, but I think Brian is probably excluding incumbents until they retire maybe?

(Also, re: Kentucky, Maybe this is a pipe dream, but with McConnell being up again for reelection in 2026, I could see Andy being the pick to take him on even if it leaves a year on his term. But maybe Rand's seat is an easier ask in 2028.)

Yeah, I don't follow the logic on that at all. They just showed that when you are running a statewide campaign, the GOP doesn't have the numbers. Like, that's literally what happened yesterday. That's the point of all I'm saying... They don't have winning issues. They have Trump and anti-choice.

Good fucking luck.

I think we've covered all this before, but I read that only 27% of this country has landlines, and everybody who relies on a cell phone knows not to answer a number they don't know. So, the only people the pollsters reach are older than even me!
