I've definitely never been proud of the Yanks. Really haven't been proud of the Rays either, if I'm being honest. I am tonight.

Re: Guns: Infinity
Interesting to see the parents being charged with manslaughter. Will be curious to see how that goes and to what extent it's justified in this case. I often feel that parents are not considered accountable enough for their children's actions in cases of this kind of extreme violence. It goes hand in hand with a culture of individualism that places little emphasis on responsibility of family and community for the actions of their members.

Re: Guns: Infinity
So, are you saying you think the parents should have no accountability for the actions of a 14 year old child in their care? (Crumbly case)degenerasian wrote: ↑Fri May 27, 2022 11:43 am Interesting to see the parents being charged with manslaughter. They should but Manslaughter would be a new level, not sure how that would be proven.sancarlos wrote: ↑Fri May 27, 2022 12:11 pmSo, are you saying you think the parents should have no accountability for the actions of a 14 year old child in their care? Re: Guns: Infinity
NOT the onion.
Re: Guns: Infinity
There have been at least four versions of the police story, and none of them make any sense. Not even the one where they backtrack and make statements that are against their own interest. It is hard for me to believe that in a group of 15-20 rural Texas lawmen, there is not one who rushed in Leeroy Jenkins style. Not even because it was the right thing to do, not for the kids, but because it's what gets him off. There is something about the group dynamic here that has not come out yet.
And again, nobody seems to appreciate that this happened in one classroom (or possibly two adjoining classrooms) in a tiny, one-story elementary school building in a small town, with windows to the outside at ground floor level. I mean, I can come up with a way to defeat the shooter just based on having played GTA.

Re: Guns: Infinity
The police are still trying to sort out their story. If this is the best one they've come up with days later, the truth is gonna be a whole lot fucking worse.Rex wrote: ↑Fri May 27, 2022 4:19 pm There have been at least four versions of the police story, and none of them make any sense. They all need to be fired. Immediately. And how in the fuck can the Chief of Police stand there and say 'I'd apologize, if it would help'. Yeah, it would be a good fucking start, you god-damned piece of shit. Apologize, and then resign. And then slink away to live your live in everlasting shame and guilt.
And they should all take off those stupid fucking hats.
Re: Guns: Infinity
All hat and no cattle.
Just what so many of us suspected about the caliber of men who join the police force. Posing with big weapons is great, look at macho boy in his swat armour. They look tough when there are dozens of them marching in lockstep towards unarmed protesters, but ask these guys to take intitiative and risk themselves for the sake of a bunch of innocents, and it's no dice.
Firemen must hate these cowards. Ever hear of a fireman running from a fire?

The tuff guy fantasies don't hold up in a real-world situation. I don't think it's much beyond that.Rex wrote: ↑Fri May 27, 2022 4:19 pmIt is hard for me to believe that in a group of 15-20 rural Texas lawmen, there is not one who rushed in Leeroy Jenkins style. Re: Guns: Infinity
But there are reasons other than toughness why somebody would go in there. Like stupidity. And I guarantee you, these are not smart people. None of these putzes even made a stupid mistake for an hour? This is a well drilled bunch of cowards.

Really sobering. “A first responder unwilling to place the lives of the innocent above their own safety should consider another career field."

Re: Guns: Infinity
Side note: I think those hats are part of the official uniforms of Texas police officers. And they look so fucking stupid. Not only just because, but to those around the world who only see America as this crazy place full of fun toting psychos, it doesn't dispel any preconceived notions that the cops here are any different than Yosemite Sam.

Cowboy hats are very utilitarian.
Hold on, I'm trying to see if Jack London ever gets this fire built or not.
Re: Guns: Infinity
Yes. But I think most guys wearing them are just trying to project an image. Like all those “Bro Country” fucks.

The training expectations are obviously in stark contrast to what we are seeing in Uvalde. Police officials have said that officers were reluctant to engage the gunman because “they could’ve been shot.”degenerasian wrote: ↑Sat May 28, 2022 12:51 am

Fucking hell, man. You know how man of their fellow police officers around the country want to string this lot up. Like, I'd actually be a little worried about bodily harm if I was claiming to be part of that police force. Talk about giving everyone a bad name.
Shocking, if true. Utterly and completely shocking.

Lol this country is so fucked. That tweet should go in the museum that explains how a once great country became a bootlicking, fascist cop and military loving dictatorship.
