I get the impulse to say this one, but after working as a cashier for 5 years, I've heard it said so many times that I avoid it.
Big same. I'm sure I've mentioned this, but the only time a customer made me laugh with a canned line was when a little person was going to pay and turned to the woman in line behind him and asked if she could help out because "I seem to be a little short".

I moo whenever I drive past cows. Originally to entertain the kids, then to annoy them, and now I find that I do it even when I'm alone in the car.
I yell "Hay!" when we pass bales or a truck loaded with them drives by. It freaks everyone out every damn time.

This one is becoming increasingly difficult to pull off because of Smart Tags for toll booths, but, back in the day...

Take your money and "forget" to roll down your window, and smack your hand/face against the window. The toll booth operator never really knew how to react, but your car full of buffoons were an automatic laugh on that move.

The first comment on that thread was someone who didn't know what a stud finder was. THAT is what made me feel old, with me muttering, "what, never hung a picture correctly, kid?"

Guilty on that one!

And although I try not to do it, when someone says "Hey," I say "Save your hay, you might marry a horse."

You know, when you have kids, it's a painful realization that you are saying things that your mother used when it comes to eating, hygiene, safety etc.

Dad jokes and the types of things we are discussing here is much funnier.

Almost anything that ends in "er" can be turned into a Dad joke.

"'Owner?' Just met her!"

I feel old when my daughter pulls off a good "that's what she said" said. I try so hard not to laugh, but when they are funny, I can't help it.

My wife made a comment about the tree not having balls this year and my 10 year old started laughing before she caught herself which made me laugh twice as hard.

I love that I could totally imagine my daughter's face if she laughed at that (and she probably would). That shocked laugh and her looking up away from me.

Last night was my girlfriend's work holiday party. And I think it was at the worst place I've ever been to...a Dave & Busters. Wow....between the sugary cocktails, really awful buffet food, and loud flashing arcade games (but nothing cool, like pinball or even old Space Invaders-type of games), it was just awful. I said to one of her co-workers 'If you set out to design a place that was not us, this would be it'.

One funny thing...I was talking to the husband of another of my GF's co-workers, and he mentioned he was from Ogden, Utah. I told him I had family in Ogden, but that my cousin had run into trouble with the law (my cousin who got busted running a real estate ponzi scheme and did time in the Federal Prison). So...turns out this guy I was talking to...his younger sister dated my other cousin (the felon's younger brother) back in High School, and he knew the whole family.

How's that for a small world?

He died at only 18 so he's frozen in the look of a teenager, but Ryan White would've been 50 today.

Fuck, that one hits home. Growing up in central Indiana and experiencing the saga from the White's leaving Kokomo area to moving to Cicero to all the celebs. Just insane. Got a chance to listen to his mother talk about it all at the Indianapolis Children's Museum. They have a section that is a replica of his room with some of his things that she has donated. She is only there a couple of times a year. We didn't even know she was going to talk. It was really good. Some of the kids had some really good questions. Just glad my girls got a chance to hear her talk about the experiences that she and her family went through.

So my son was renewing his US Soccer officials certification for 2022. He paid the fee and started his online training (yeah 21st century tech)...at which point the receipt email popped up. The email address for questions <first name>@erols.com.

Not sure if Erols was just a Baltimore-DC thing but the fact that the email address still is the primary contact for US Soccer's regional trainer is pretty great.

Wife's last living grandparent (dad's mom) passed away yesterday. The Woman made it to 40 with all 4 grandparents living and lost all 4 in the next 4+ years (I lost my last 21 years ago). None due to COVID. Old age, heart attack, old age, old age. Her grandmother wasn't in pain at all but had no quality of life and hospice had been coming to the house (only been doing in facility Hospice for the direst of cases) for a couple of weeks so we knew things were imminent. At peace now. But still not an easy thing around the holidays.

Was looking at the IMDB page for Home Alone. Saw that when the movie was released, the actor who played the old man who lived next door was only four years older than I am now! Jeebus.

(And, Macaulay Culkin is now 41!)

One of the attorneys threw a Kreskin reference into the arbitration I was at today, and I was in the half of the room that understood the reference.

If it's any consolation, I laughed. I have used the Great Kreskin as a reference for a long, long time.

Reading a book and the characters are mostly younger but one of them made a Kreskin reference. The kids are precocious and talented in weird ways (It's a stephen king novel) but I feel like Kreskin would still fall outside the realm of knowledge for a 10 year old these days no matter how smart they are.

More of a passage of time than feeling old. The Great Pumpkin was released in 1966, and in it, Snoopy imagines himself a WWI flying ace, which was 50 years hence. If it came out today and used the same time frame, Snoopy would be doing bombing missions flying out of Da Nang.

To a soundtrack of "Fortunate Son", obviously.
