Congrats my man. So the Mrs. wore her wedding dress to the reception and then out on the town afterwards?

Thanks, everyone!

One of the things I wasn't ready for was all of these folks who I've met and become friends with over time from all these places I've lived meeting each other for the first time.

And many became friends with each other! All the friendships circles were suddenly overlapping.

Oh, and the funniest part of the day, my wife set up a fake "first look" with one of our gay friends.

So there's the photographer giving me very specific directions of keeping my eyes closed and telling me to "wait for your wife's tap on the shoulder" before you turn around and open your eyes.

Well, I get the tap, and boom... I'm met by our friend dressed like he's going to a pride parade. I couldn't fucking stop laughing.

Congrats my man!

We went out in the North End when we got married. We ended up in a bar with some very stereotypical older Italian guys who congratulated us and had the bartender get his "usual" for me as a congratulatory drink. I don't recall what it was, but it was rocket fuel.

Did this to one of my son's friends a few weeks back. I apologized, and I still feel awful about it.

We talked about this in the thread about my daughter. The intention of it all is very important. Especially if you acknowledge the mistake. The folks that know what they are doing and intentionally do it anyway are evil.

I think I shared this story, but I misgendered Adeem the Artist earlier this year when meeting them before a show. We had chatted for a few minutes and when they walked away I said "have a good show, man!" after telling myself a dozen times on the way to the show to not do that. I ran into them about 30 minutes later while chilling on the patio and apologized. Then his opener just laughed and said he doesn't all the time too and he's known them for a long time. Adeem didn't care and appreciated my concern, then shared their joint with me.

I didn’t apologize because it wasn’t acknowledged. I could tell from the faces of the other people in the room though. I also don’t think I worded it right.

I mistook a woman for a man. And called them a man. In front of a room of people.

On the face of it, it’s not. When you take years of acting the way she acts, it was the final straw.

Basically we were headed to my sister’s yesterday for a family Xmas celebration. She lives about 45 miles or so NW of here and it’s about 45 minutes via I-10 or an hour and 10 going backroads. She hates I-10 (even though they’ve just finished a massive construction project and the traffic is minimal), and she started screaming at us when I tried to go that way yesterday when we were already an hour behind schedule. Did her best to ruin the day, but we still had fun while not being around her. But we both woke up even more pissed and Kelli doesn’t want her over here at all. The only problem is my Mom is staying over there so have to figure that out.

Didn't expect to her to own up to her behavior and give a heartfelt apology with a promise to seek help for her anger issues, but that's what ended up happening. And I got some free Tex-Mex out of it!

That’s great, Giff!

I got a similar win yesterday. Brokered another peace treaty between my brother (speaking of anger issues…) and my mother. Hope this one holds awhile. But, another Nobel Peace Prize for my shelf!

Couldn't find the sailing thread...so posting this here:

Sydney to Hobart LIVE: Tragedy strikes as two die; 17 yachts retire
Both men who died on board their yachts overnight had been struck on the head by booms, Joe McNulty of the Batemans Bay Marine Area Command has said at a press conference this afternoon.

The first fatality, which happened around midnight, killed a 55-year-old man from Western Australia. Police said the sails on Flying Fish Arctos were “moving violently through the night” and that the incident might have taken place while a sail was being changed.

The boom is a horizontal pole that holds down the main sail of the boat and swings from side to side depending on where the wind is blowing from.

The second fatality, onboard Bowline, happened about 2.30am, when a 65-year-old man from South Australia was struck by the vessel’s boom. Another man on the same yacht was medically evacuated after suffering a shoulder injury.
Two of the Super Maxi's have had to retire due to boat damage.

Live stream from the current leader, Law Connect, has been wild. You can see it here: https://www.youtube.com/live/bVha4mIPp2 ... XFllJjxZw2

Several months ago I dropped my wedding ring on the tile floor after it slipped out of my hand putting it back on after washing my hands. It cracked it.

Tonight I went the smack a cricket crawling on the tile floor with my left hand. I nerfed the cricket. But I broke the ring.

I guess Tungsten isn't that "break proof." I think I paid like $300 from Kay Jewelers for that thing.

Get one of those dopey rubber ones (yourself) and just start wearing it and eventually your partner will accept it despite not liking it and you won’t have to worry about losing it or being uncomfortable (or it breaking?).

That's the plan actually. It's what I wore when deployed. I just can't remember where I put it.

I'd buy a new one from Amazon, but I have no idea what my ring size is.

I had a cheap ass one (we went cheap as shit and spent the money on 3 weeks in the Caribbean) it broke at the weld so I have 4$ (maybe) steel one I got in India when we went for a friend's wedding. It's got the main ring then a inner ring that spins. Great fidget piece and it's solid as F.

Tattoo a ring on your finger. Problem solved. I haven’t worn a ring for almost the entirety of our marriage. When I owned my van company I didn’t want to scratch it when I would tow. Once I took it off, I never put it back on. I don’t wear any jewelry. Maybe it’s a little sensory sensitivity or something, but I can’t stand stuff on my hands or around my neck.
