I forgot I still had mine in when I stepped into the shower at the gym the other day. Luckily, I realized it pretty quickly, before they got wet.

Is there a way to create a keyboard shortcut so I can paste a saved phrase into emails, notes, etc. so I don't have to type out the whole phrase. Because it looks really bad when I misspell the name of the org I work for because I type too quickly and don't proof before sending. I want to hit Ctrl-Z and have it put that in whenever I hit it. I would think this would be useful.

For emails, you can create it as a signature and add it that way.bfj wrote: Wed Feb 12, 2025 2:36 pm Is there a way to create a keyboard shortcut so I can paste a saved phrase into emails, notes, etc. so I don't have to type out the whole phrase. Done did that already. I want it for free form text. I've actually started using PFA instead of typing the whole thing out. I just don't think it looks that professional that way.The Sybian wrote: Wed Feb 12, 2025 2:50 pmFor emails, you can create it as a signature and add it that way.bfj wrote: Wed Feb 12, 2025 2:36 pm Is there a way to create a keyboard shortcut so I can paste a saved phrase into emails, notes, etc. so I don't have to type out the whole phrase. Re: Random Thoughts About Thoughts Random
There used to be a feature in Outlook for this. I cannot for the life of me get the right google search terms to find it though. I think it was called quick insert or something. I don't see it in my menus for Outlook now, though, so it may be a discontinued feature, or I may be completely off base.

Re: Random Thoughts About Thoughts Random
It's called quick steps in outlook. It doesn't show up unless you are in a new e-mail or responding to one, it would appear. But you don't have to send the one you are looking at, you use it for the copying of text.
I clicked "New Mail" and then a button with a lightning bolt shows up on my menu bar I can access quick steps from.

I use a program called "AutoHotKey" (https://www.autohotkey.com/) that lets you create macros that insert defined text strings. I started to use it during triage meetings when I got tired of typing out "Deferring from Release 1.3.2 -- AtoMx/CosMx Triage Team" repeatedly. Its free, and pretty easy to use.bfj wrote: Wed Feb 12, 2025 2:36 pm Is there a way to create a keyboard shortcut so I can paste a saved phrase into emails, notes, etc. so I don't have to type out the whole phrase. Thanks! Not sure that does exactly what I need, but I can definitely use that going forward for a lot of different things.

I don’t use any of the AI assistant bs in anything but it seems like if it was a worthwhile feature it could be helpful for something like that.

Re: Random Thoughts About Thoughts Random
Are you talking about doing it on a computer or phone?
If it's a computer, you can come up with a shorthand abbreviation and set up an Autocorrect entry in Word to change that to the full - and hopefully correctly spelled - name.
I do this in Word when I'm writing a brief where I have to restate the client's name multiple times.
I think you might have to set it up separately in Outlook and in Word (?).
To do it in Outlook, select File, then Options, then Mail, then Spelling and Autocorrect, then AutoCorrect Options.
In Word, it's File, Options, Proofing, AutoCorrect Options.

It's been opposite for us...always easier to name the females than the males. Our most recent, 2 cats in 2020, we had Lily's name right away. Despite Leo being a good complementary name we both didn't like but couldn't think of anything better...took us a month to come back around and just settle on Leo.

Only had three to name in my adult life (all yellow labs). We've always gone with female book heroines. Scout (To Kill a Mockingbird), Lucy (Narnia), and Fuzzy Kat (Katniss - the kids added the "fuzzy" part). Haven't thought about what the next one might be.
Totally Kafkaesque

I thought I came across the most unfortunate law firm name today, Goldberg Simpson, until I remembered it was Ron Goldman, not Goldberg.

Re: Random Thoughts About Thoughts Random
I have a pretty annoying habit of confusing others regarding the gender of my pets.
Kasey was named after Kasey Keller. Everyone thinks all cats are female anyways, so that didn't help.
Tobi was named after Toblerone chocolate which is a reference to gifts I used to give my girlfriend-->wife back in high school. Tobi was a labradoodle and looked like a dude, so...
And now we have Mickey, which is a reference to Mitch and Mickey from A Mighty Wind, which is one of the movies I used to watch with my toddler daughter when she had trouble sleeping. She is a dark golden lab and is majestic... The name is confusing.

Just booked a condo in Corpus Christi for a few days over Spring Break. I pulled it up on Google Maps and there's a condo in the same building called The Best Little Shore House in Texas.

we've used it to do the very thing - rather than rekeying standard notes in either email or various apps - free version works well.

Re: Random Thoughts About Thoughts Random
The water from my filtered fridge dispenser has been weird the last couple of weeks, has a think feel to it, no better way to describe, and the metallic taste of blood. My daughter bugged me to switch the filter out, no difference. Did a search, and see our water company put out a statement that there is a high salt content due to road salt washing into their system and drought conditions preventing the usual dilution of the salt, but it's safe to drink. Somehow I don't find it comforting that enough road salt is washing into my drinking water that it's altering the taste this significantly. They say it's safe to drink, but if you are on a low-sodium diet, you should consult a doctor.
