I did that to myself about 10 years ago or so. It wasn't THAT bad, but it most certainly did suck.

Pro tip - if you're working outside and think there's even a chance of poison ivy around, wash your hands with soap before you take a leak.

That one sucks too. There are some, many listed here, that are nearly impossible to get rid of but at least it's easy/satisfying to scratch that particular area. Like bug bites on the shins. The heel blows - it's like trying to scratch an armadillo

My wife just took our youngest to a dermatologist and apparently the kid has head lice. And suddenly every itch is magnified.

Anyone want to admit going through this before? The doctor recommended washing and drying any and every piece of clothing and bedding, treating the kid with a rx shampoo and going through her hair with a fine tooth comb. Anything else? I guess we need to check my other daughter, and my wife and me.

Doctor said she's fine to go to school or whatever once we've started this treatment. My parents are supposed to stay with us this weekend and they usually sleep in the afflicted room. Crap.

I wonder if something similar is happening with lice as with bacteria - they have evolved to get stronger over the past years.

I just learned from my mom that I had lice once when I was a kid, and ended up with a severe sinus infection because I was allergic to something in the medicine (or medicated shampoo) they treated me with.

Back in my early 20s, I caught the crabs from a one-night-stand girl. That itch was not fun. But, it did provide a story that was horrifying at the time, but funny now decades later.

So, I made an appointment with doctor. They put me in the room. A young woman comes in wearing a lab coat and takes all my information, clearly uncomfortable. Probably a rookie nurse. The doctor then sees me and prescribes some shampoo, and that is that. The shampoo takes care of it right away. The next night, I go to a local singles bar with my friends. At the crowded bar, I almost run smack into a woman. Guess who? Easy to recognize, even without the lab coat. She wheeled around, and almost literally ran away from me. Nice.
