I don't know how it missed me, but I only watched a few episodes of GG.

A few episodes - certainly not enough to clock last names or that any would warrant an emoji…(insert shrug emoji)

Real Salt Lake is celebrating their "twentieth anniversary" at their home opener Saturday.

This annoys me way too much. It's not their twentieth anniversary, it's the beginning of their twentieth season.

I volunteered at the Trap and Skeet range yesterday. It was fun, but man. Let me tell you.

It was like a January 6th convention. All of these standard issue white people who very clearly fit a certain demographic with all of their shotguns, FJB stickers on them, and ginormous camper vans going out into the desert for competition.

All I took away from it was: liberals need to buy guns. And train relentlessly with them.

Not sure that's the lesson there (we would lose). Our ingenuity will win the day (modified COVID spray that kills anyone unvaccinated). I could definitely see liberals with maga spray key rings like college girls.

This is now the 2nd or 3rd generation that was raised by people who believed that owning guns was both their birthright and a part of their identity.

As many of you know, I grew up in a small town in the west. A high percentage of people in the town owned guns. But nobody made a big deal about it. It seems like nowadays, many gun owners make a big deal about it, for some reason. I think it’s because the NRA has convinced them that they are under siege.

Oh, absolutely. As with any ideology, there's a direct correlation between its obnoxiousness and perceived persecution complex.

I think enough time has passed here ... while her life was infinitely more impressive than mine, no doubt, in the big scheme of things I kinda feel like Krista McAuliffe is overrated.

Essentially. If all of them came back to life without any knowledge of history since the explosion, I'd want to see their reactions to the group being remembered as "Christa and the Others". Like name the actual pilot or lead astronaut or whatever they're called. I bet even McAuliffe herself would find all that kinda fucked.

Lemme see if I can remember the other ones. I’ll put it in spoiler if anyone else wants to try:

Dick Scobee
Ellison Onozuka
Ronald McNair
Judy? Resnick
Some guy Jarvik?
Don’t remember the other white guy.

The only astronauts I can name come from the Apollo missions/lunar landing era.

Oh, yeah, to Mr. D's point, and McAuliffe.

Oh, and the lady that wore diapers to drive from Houston to FL (or whatever) to kill her lover (or whatever). I don't know her name, but I'd recognize it if I saw it.

ETA - Nope. Googled it and did not recognize that name.
ETA2 - I had the commute reversed.

Still makes no sense. The reason she's remembered more is perfectly reasonable and nobody's rating her on anything. I don't even know what state she's from, why are you asking?

What if she was from New Hampshire, Ryan, would that change things!!?*

(She's actually a name that was pretty prominent here in the DMV* because she was a teacher in Prince George's County. And I just looked it up.. She WAS a teacher in Concord, NH!!)

* - I'm not explaining this again!!!

Wrong place, wrong time is a reason why otherwise non-remarkable people get remembered, really.

Like Jesus. And John Bobbitt.

If Bobbitt was filming a porn movie with five professional pornstars and one other normal person, they all got attacked on set and had their genitals cut off, but people only remembered Bobbitt, that would be the perfect analogy.
