I think I could wax poetic ( at the risk of a swamp crash) about that movie. It's really good from a storytelling standpoint.

Nope, I expect her to finish among the leaders. Always had a thing for her. Last I saw, she is still hot.

99% sure I put the key to our rental unit in the pocket of my swim trunks. 100% sure I wore the swim trunks into the ocean and can no longer locate the key. Had to walk a mile and a half or so to meet up with my wife on the boardwalk to get a backup key. Got grazed by seagull shit on the way "home." Going to waste another chunk of my day at a hardware store cutting a new key.

Still better than the best day at work.

Hope it isn't like our place was a couple of years back. If you lost a key, you had to pay for the lock to be re-keyed. Duplicates weren't allowed.

The key I had was a True Value hardware key, and even though I took a risk and went to the local place I could bike to rather than an actual True Value store off-island, I ended up with a duplicate True Value hardware key for $1.50.

Then I had some guac, made myself a drink for my walk to the beach and fell asleep under my umbrella.

Dropped a pretty sweet pun at the gym.

The wife of one of the coaches found out she was prego, so they did a baby reveal during my class. As a cutesy warm up we ran outside for 400 meters with a medicine ball at stomach level to simulate it looking like a prego belly. Being the rebel I am I just carried it on my shoulder.

Upon coming back into the gym someone made the comment, "John that's not how a woman carries her baby when she's pregnant!"

So I said, "Well, it looks like I miscarried then."

Laughs all around. Thankfully.

Ichabod's brother?

And the warm up itself isn't bad. It's only the equivalent of a lap around a track with a 30 lb ball. That wasn't the only part of the warm up either.

Well, not quite the same thing, but if I lived in Washington or Colorado or anywhere else where it's legal, I'd try to play the state legality card (although I know it wouldn't work).

That reminds me, I never finished my white paper for work I was writing about weed in the workplace. So far, workers have zero protection. Since prescription pot is still illegal under Federal law, employers can fire employees for testing positive, even with a prescription and never using on the job. Stupid. In the recreationally legal states, same thing. Colorado S.Ct. upheld a company firing the most sympathetic employee ever for testing positive. A paraplegic phone center worker, using prescription marijuana off duty. That was a surprise. I can't imagine it'll take too long for Federal law to legalize prescription marijuana.

Given that workers have no protection against firing as a general matter, unless they are a member of a protected class, I don't see Congress stepping in any time soon.

I'm saying "that's government overreach!" people always cite "well it's illegal at the Federal level" as if they actually think the Feds have a right to do that.

That's what I've resigned myself to for a while now. Guy who jumps well for his age. I rarely have the confidence to go all out on a jump anymore. I'm not consciously scared, but little dudes in my head clearly fire up all of the klaxons when it looks like I'm gearing up for a big one-leg jump and I back off.

I fondly remember my final dunk. Age 39. First one in several years. It was in competition, and the guy trying to stop me somehow made a little body contact driving me upward the final six inches or so. He got a piece of the ball, I switched from one hand to two, just trying to lay it in, before I knew it I was holding the rim. Should've retired right then.

I was never much of a jumper, but could palm the ball and with long arms didn't need much elevation (at 6'1").
