If you ranked the 19(?) states I haven't been to by how much I'd like to relative to their general hype level, New Mexico might be #1.

Did a swing through Santa Fe with a side trip to Taos. Absolutely loved it.

The food, man... Sofa King good.

Ended up at a fall festival in Carson ('town' of general store, post office, fire dept) which consisted of just a bunch of off-gridders and earth-shippers. Lots of folk who doubtfully have both running water + electricity (although solar is big down there, for those who have the means). Pretty wild and sobering tbh.

I was too much of a dumb teenager to appreciate living there for High School...but since my parents moved, I definitely miss having a reason to spend time there.

Since we are discussing anecdotal evidence, my daughter's Spanish teacher had a contest where each class had to guess how many times Taylor Swift was shown during the Super Bowl, and the closest team got bonus points on their total grade.
