Maybe I’m misinterpreting your post. But to me that means a pitch that looks very appealing but try though I might, I could never hit it.

Why does everyone try so hard to seem intelligent on twitter. Not the smartest guy (swampcrash dont lie) but I have no idea what most of them are talking about. I do understand and appreciate the Times piece. Plain English. Good summary. I'd say they win.

Hard to know which is more embarrassing this morning:
Nikki Haley's 'Don't blame Trump...blame your governor'..
Nikki Haley: Focus on Your Governor, Not Trump
or Hugh Hewitt's 'Actually...Jared is super awesome!' screed:
Jared Kushner doesn’t deserve this withering barrage

The last line from the Hugh Hewitt piece:
Jaw dropping.Shame should attach to those intent on politicizing this catastrophe. The public won’t forget either those who helped or those who stood by and jeered.

Just when you thought it couldn't get any worse...here comes David Brooks:
The Age of Coddling Is Over
The Age of Coddling Is Over
I’m hoping this moment launches a change in the way we raise and train all our young, at all ages. I’m hoping it exorcises the tide of “safetyism,” which has gone overboard.
The virus is another reminder that hardship is woven into the warp and woof existence. Training a young person is training her or him to master hardship, to endure suffering and, by building something new from the wreckage, redeem it.

A good response to Bret Stephen's ridiculous column (America Shouldn’t Have to Play by New York Rules) a few days ago...
I Got Your New York Rules Right Here
I Got Your New York Rules Right Here
The article’s thesis was a simple thought experiment: what if New York City wasn’t part of America? What if the pandemic was their problem and not America’s problem? What if we let them continue to battle the coronavirus while we head off to brunch, and then the beach? Stay-at-home for thee but for me.
Oh, wow, What if? The thesis of my little article is even simpler: fuck you, Bret Stephens.

Boss Flees Slack as Workers Deride Corporate Greed
On April 9, the company announced permanent pay cuts of 2 to 10 percent for all non-union employees making more than $67,000 a year. CEO Terry Jimenez generously said he would forgo his salary—$575,000, a year per an SEC filing—for two weeks.
"Tribune gives $9 million on shareholder dividends, and then tells employees it's critical that they take pay cuts and furloughs that will save them just $556,979," another staffer wrote. "The person who made these decisions at Tribune hasn't mastered basic math."

Why do I torture myself by reading Hugh Hewitt's drivel when it shows up on the WaPost online?
Today's latest is laying the ground work for Trump to refuse to debate Biden in the fall:
Do we need debates? The choice between Trump and Biden is simple and stark.

For the record, I don't think there's any way in hell Trump will do any debates this fall.It would be odd for Trump to agree to debate Biden under the authority of a commission deeply biased toward Beltway group think, no matter how confident he is that the former vice president lacks the energy to go two hours against him. But why walk into three ambushes?
Re: (The End of) Journalism Thread
I think there's a better chance with Biden than anyone else, because he can absolutely beat Biden these days, but I'd still bet against. If Amash or Ventura or someone else gets a seat, there's zero chance. Both sides would cancel it.

Trump needs the oxygen of a debate - trump can sound like a moron and it won’t matter. This goes back to the other discussion in the other thread or whatever - depriving trump and the Fox machine of oxygen works. A debate will be all sorts of oxygen.
Hillary mauled him, it didn’t matter. I don’t see what a debate does other than give trump a lifeline.
Re: (The End of) Journalism Thread
This. There is absolutely no benefit to Joe Biden doing any public debate.tennbengal wrote: ↑Tue May 12, 2020 12:02 pmTrump needs the oxygen of a debate - trump can sound like a moron and it won’t matter. In fact, there is probably no benefit to him doing any public speaking or press conference whatsoever. He can only hurt himself.

What happened to Lara Logan??? Once she was a highly respected journalist on 60 Minutes and drafted to my hottest women team, now she is a wacko conspiracy theorist with an Antifa bug up her ass. I went down a rabbit hole, she is reporting "facts" gleaned from a parody site claiming Antifa is secretly run by the Juggalo heirachy and similarly ludicrous stuff. Shame.

Considering all of the money I save by not subscribing to the local fishwrap (which considering I work in media and they're a customer and 99 percent of the time it would be an automatic subscribe for me if they weren't a ridiculously partisan propaganda rag for Adelson and his fascist goons) $29/year for a "real" newspaper is the least I can do.
