See above. Thanks in advance to those with the decency to admit they are wrong.

Canned???? C'mon....make your own....

From epicurious....
1 tablespoon vegetable oil
2 cups cranberries (about 8 ounces)
1 tablespoon minced fresh ginger
2 cups Pinot Noir or other dry red wine
1 1/2 cups sugar
3 tablespoons chopped crystallized ginger
1 teaspoon curry powder
Large pinch of Chinese five-spice powder
preparation

Heat oil in large saucepan over medium-high heat. Add cranberries and fresh ginger; stir until cranberries begin to burst, about 3 minutes. Add wine and sugar; boil until mixture is reduced to 2 1/2 cups, about 15 minutes. Add crystallized ginger, curry powder and five-spice powder. Season with salt and pepper. (Can be made 3 days ahead. Cover; chill.) Serve sauce cold or, if desired, rewarm over low heat, stirring often.

Every holiday has something that sucks about it. Christmas has the music, Halloween has candy corn and thanksgiving has cranberry sauce.

Fruit and vegetables should always be fresh, if possible. Worst case, frozen.

Canned is gross.

Canned is the way to go. My 7-year old son and I just about polished off the canned stuff last night while the rest of the group at the fresh stuff my wife made. Her's was good, but I still preferred the canned stuff.

Every Jewish holidays' traditional food, except for latkes. Not even Jews can make fried potatoes taste bad.

Growing up I always thought that cranberry sauce was put out as a joke. Here's this gelatinous substance with the shape of a can that no one eats. Maybe it was a tribute to a previous time? The culinary equivalent of "pouring one out for the homies"? Maybe a way for pre hipsters (before that term was a thing) to be ironic?

I honestly never thought that it was anything more than ornamentation. I mean, when you have a traditional 7 or 12 course or whatever Italian holiday, what was I supposed to think? I should actually eat that nonsense? Nope.

Most ridiculous things multiple Swampers have ever expressed strong feelings about:

1. Derek Lowe
2. Cranberry sauce
3. ABBA/Heart
