Good news:
The extent of any injuries aren't known, though an image Tweeted by the Charlotte Observer showed Newton conscious and smiling after the crash.
Bad news--this is what he was driving, a witness reported that it flipped four times:

I've driven through that intersection many times (our company's HQ is right across the highway from the Charlotte Observer), and I will agree, it's a very dangerous intersection. If you're trying to get on I-277 there's a row of trees on the right side that make it difficult to see the oncoming traffic. I've also seen cars ignore the stop sign and just drive through the intersection. I'm surprised there isn't a traffic light there.

Same thing Romo has. So it's not super serious, but I can't see a reason he'd need to play again. Though I guess they are still technically int he playoff hunt in the Shit Show South.

They are not just technically in the playoff chase, they are 1/2 game out. They are absolutely alive for the playoffs.

I stayed in an apartment complex three blocks from you HQ for about six weeks in summer 2012.

And to just post something about the NFL, Cutler is getting killed every week for leading the league in turnovers, but the Philly QB's combined have more than he does.

Yep, a couple times. Some of my co-workers were in a different complex that was even closer than I was.

Let's talk about the Kapaernick and RG3 situations.

Both have clearly regressed in terms of results from their stellar years two seasons ago. Part of the problem is that Russell WIlson has not regressed as much (though was arguably less crucial to his team's overall success for the first years than his defense) but I think the real issue actually does pertain to Wilson.

Seattle still does what Wilson did/does well. They haven't tried to force a square peg into a round hole, which has clearly been what happened with Kap and to an extent RG3(though injuries are as equally important to his decline). The thing I think is most odd about Kaepernick is that Harbaugh went to him because he COULD do different things than Alex Smith. So why give him the job based on a certain skill set, then try to change that skill set?

I get that QB isn't as fungible as RB and you don't want him to risk getting lit up, but by taking away the playbook that made him look good arent' you setting him/them up to fail? And also not doing your job as a coach?

Kaepernick is on a team that is falling apart yet everyone still thinks they're the same team they were in 2011. He also has no touch and WRs that are simply incapable of getting open. He's hard to judge right now.

Agreed. The Niners have been really hurt this year by injuries on the offensive line. That was a major strength of their team in 2011 and 2012, and made things a lot easier for Kaepernick. This year's team probably has more talent at the skill positions than any of the last few years, but the line play has gotten so much worse that it doesn't matter.

I actually think their WRs are done. For some reason I've seen a lot of SF games this year, and even if you watch the NFC champ game last year, these guys simply aren't open. It doesn't help that on the odd instance where someone is actually open, he guns it at their heads.

With Kaepernick and RG Trois, there was also the novelty factor. I remember Doug Flutie as a starter in Buffalo having a run of big games the first time through the league, but then everyone figured him out.

Same reason guys like FitzPatrick and Orton can have a few good games in a row. The best QBs keep learning and growing as they pile up the starts. These two were so hyped right out of the gate, so maybe they felt like they didn't have to try to improve?

How many national ad campaigns did Rodgers and Brees have after their first big years?

Granted, Griffin had a bad injury, but to be benched for a Cleveland Browns reject?

Russell Wilson has multiple ad campaigns

RGIII can't seem to move anymore and runs an offense that he doesn't fit in. It's weird. Jay Gruden is an idiot, I hope he rides out the Colt McCoy experience.

Living in the Bay Area, I see Kaepernick a lot. He seems to be immature and a bit overwhelmed by everything, right now. He is usually defiant with the media and clearly not enjoying himself. Not that I know much about it, but his throwing mechanics seem off and inconsistent. Often throwing flatfooted, missing open receivers, bad decisions. The guy is a mess. I think he needs to go to one of those quarterback boot camps, work on his mechanics and get his head straight. Since the 49ers will likely have a new coach next year, and have no decent backup at QB, they better hire somebody who has a track record of good work with QBs. Norv Turner? (kidding!)

I'm in Reno this week and everyone here is killing on Kaepernick. If he's lost Reno, he's lost the 49ers fanbase everywhere. I don't know if I've ever personally seen an NFL player quite so beloved in a specific city.

Assuming they lose to Seattle next week, the Cardinals are likely to be 12-4 road underdogs against a 6-10 or 7-9 team. That's pretty insane but you'd think Atlanta or New Orleans at home would be favoured against Ryan Lindley.

Not sure - it's not Lindley they'd have to worry about, it's the Cardinals defence.

But yeah, I could see it as a pick 'em or worse.

The Steelers have a INT return for a TD. Watching the crawl I also see (at a minimum) another pick 6, a punt return, blocked punt return, and a blocked FG return. Excitement!
