The other possible entrant for Wayne's World is Bohemian Rhapsody.

TB is right, but I also recall the luscious Tia Carrere doing a memorable version of Ballroom Blitz in that flick.

Ummm.

I may have to go with Singin' In the Rain for A Clockwork Orange.

For me, William Tell Overture. But I'm a lover, not a fighter.

Love this thread, so many good ones. I had the opposite as SL for Old School. Always think Dust in the Wind, and always have to yell "You're my boy, Blue." Completely forgot about TEOTH, until I went to the youtubes. No idea how I could forget that. That led me to a Dan Band rabbit hole, which was a lot of fun. Those guys are great. Genie in a Bottle was a standout, but I'll post this clip for the story:

I am, and am not ashamed to admit that I was dating when that fine film came out, and that's how I know. Like Ghost, Notting Hill and even way back to Fame, sometimes I - like other horny men - have had to do and watch horrible things in order to try to get laid.

One of the great things about being married with kids is that when you do have to endure shitty women's movies - such as Love, Actually which is DVR'd - is that you can do it at home with an iPad in one hand and a dog that needs a walk nearby.

I was going /misterd that text, but I think it might be more disgusting as is.

Watched it last night. Only because I couldn't figure out a way to watch Family Stone. Those two, Christmas Vacation and Christmas Story get a lot of screen time at my place around Christmas.

Pru, I'm crushed. Love, Actually is a fave of mine. Definite allergies.

Speaking of both Love, Actually and Boogie Nights, both use a great little tune by the Beach Boys. Queue the tissues.

Even if you were born in like 1980, I'm blown away how you could have managed to elude Bohemian Rhapsody until 1993.

I'm old enough to remember when was originally a hit on rock radio. But, then you didn't hear it so much for awhile. Its inclusion in Wayne's World seemed to restore it front and center on rock radio again.

Me too. Middle school talent show right after the movie came out. No clue what the hell was going on.

To this day, it's probably still the only song where you can truly say, "I've never quite heard anything like it."

Born in '78, Wayne's World was my first exposure to Bohemian Rhapsody as well. Don't underestimate how easy it was in the pre-Internet era to be unfamiliar with a song from just a few years before your time unless you went out of your way to look for it. Re-use in other pop culture was the first hearing for many.

Yeah, you guys are probably right. I had an brother 8 years older than me so I grew up hearing a lot of rock. If not for that, I probably wouldn't have heard BR until high school.

I'm not backtracking. I was wrong and I corrected myself based upon hearing more information. It's what any intellectually honest person should do. Some of you guys should give it a crack sometime.

I had a hard time with movies like Dazed and Confused, Good Will Hunting, Pulp Fiction, even The Royal Tenenbaums, etc., as they have multiple songs that make me think of only that movie. I tried to limit my answers to things with only one option as far as an owned song was concerned.

Love Actually is like the one non-shitty rom-com. Can't believe Pruitt singled it out rather than just using [insert Julia Roberts movie here].

Look, it's not the worst - but it's like a compilation of RomCom cliches... a greatest hits package if you will.

I'm old and have ben married for almost 19 years. I've paid my Rom Com dues - I've watched Notting Hill three times with my wife, only once when her hormones were stable. I've handed her kleenex twice during Chances Are, suffered through Ghosts of Girlfriends Past and even seen It's Complicated all the way through.

Not trying to heighten this debate, but if you want to sit through Hugh Grant as the awkward Prime Minister, that shitty Welsh actor as the drugged up has been rock star or enjoy the scenes of the Hobbit having fake sex... enjoy.

I've seen this movie three times however and am looking forward to finally seeing The Raid instead.

I watched the Chase yesterday (it s Brando week! ) so I dvred Streetcar and went with LA. I liked it, even though Pruitt's comment about the greatest hits is right on.

Slutty young Betty Draper ! Crazy in love Rick Grimes ! (That was off-putting)

You, apparently have been spared from two of the very worst in the Rom Com genre - Valentine's Day and New Year's Eve. They are literally exactly what you described in your first sentence.

Just looked at the Rotten Tomato scores: NYE - 7%; VD - 18%

The. Worst.

Wasn't there a 30 Rock story arc where they were doing take off of one of those holiday-based rom-coms? Like MLK Day or something.
