Cam’s on a school ski club trip through Monday (first non-sleepover night on his own ever) and he texted to say that the mountain was closed for today due to rain so he and a friend were checking out a Grateful Dead cover band at the resort.

The parental brag here is that he told the truth knowing that I’d think less of him.

I've never had a problem with the Dead's music. But, I was never a fan of Deadhead culture.

So, I wonder if that culture is a part of a Grateful Dead tribute band experience?

Feel like the culture would be more tied to the Jam Bands (Widespread, Goose, Moe, etc) and Dead spinoffs (Dead & Co) that have happened since Jerry's passing. Bet parrot head culture ties closer to tribute band post death than dead.

From my experience, you have a lot of typical Deadheads at Dead cover band shows. Not necessarily the atmosphere or rampant drug abuse, but it's still there.

This is a ski resort in northern Vermont so I’m guessing the Deadhead culture would be prevalent even at a Naughty by Nature tribute band.

She's giddy with excitement...and I'm pretty damn happy for her. But I'm going to miss her....just getting used to having her here!

Not my kids, but some of my son's friends are playing in the hockey State Championship game right now. Game is streaming live from the Prudential Center (NJ Devil's rink) with a professional announcer. and the Devil's arena announcer. Team is going for the three-peat, up 3-2 after 2 periods. Both of my kids are at the game, kind of crazy going through Ticketmaster to buy tickets to their friends' game.

I'm impressed with the level of play. Our school got a senior back this year, kid went to a boarding school for hockey and played at some club in Chicago that is supposed to be the best club in the country. Once he committed to a scholarship, his parents brought him back home. He scored the second, and man, it looked like a pro skating around kids the way he smoked the defenders. My daughter is friends with his sister. She made the Varsity boys team as a freshman, and this is a team where there are seniors on JV. Ultimately, her parents didn't let her play as there is checking and my daughter said the girl is 5'1".

Just got home from the HS...
flaco jr just signed his national letter of intent to run D1 track at Rider -- hopefully he'll also get a degree while at it.. otherwise it will be the most expensive running practice ever.

of course as his coach reminded us, he has another outdoor season (and indoor nationals this weekend) to finish -- really hope he focuses on individual races this spring.

The Rider logo looks good. I wear 9.5 or 10s in Adidas shoes and Large in gear when the gear fairy hits :-)

Also what is the first NIL deal that will get closed? Captain Paul's Firehouse Dogs? Primos Sandwhich Shop?

On an up note, Quinn turned in his Independent Study today (year long project each College of Wooster senior must accomplish in their major in order to graduate). Massive milestone. 75-page paper all in French comparing French police response to protests (I think ? or immigrants? not sure, it's in French) and US police response to same. Feeling extra emotional for him given that this college journey started in the fall of '20 in the middle of Covid horror. He's getting to celebrate today on I.S Monday (CoW no classes on this day by tradition) with his his friends. Truly happy for the kid. He deserves this.
