I'm impressed by all the great junior Swamper runners. When I would try to get my daughter to walk downtown, she'd always groan and say, "Can't we just drive?" So, this is foreign territory to me.

Amazingly, my sedentary daughter now tells me she's regularly going with her roommates to the campus gym at U Washington. I figure there must be an ulterior motive.

Rass, does your daughter move on to a bigger regional race for USATF now? Our New Englands are this weekend and I think both my kids have a chance to go to Region I in Poughkeepsie. I don't think they or their teams can make Nationals but Reno in December seems nice?

There is a regional meet in or around Philly on the 18th. We haven't really decided if we're going or not.

I thought nationals were in Knoxville.

ETA: We could have a sweet Swamp meetup at Nationals... if my son could qualify.
OTOH, my son's coach has been pestering my daughter to join the team for a couple years. I'm shocked, but she actually wants to now. Not sure what convinced her, because she has fought the idea. She will run all day playing a sport, but won't run for the sake of running. So maybe she can qualify...

I think AAU is in Knoxville. USATF Nationals are in Reno.

Run is the shittiest of liquors. But still so so good when handled correctly.

I’ll make you some tiki drinks sometime that are so good you’ll never* drink bourbon again.

Just for the record, Reno is at 4,500 feet, and December is cold and often snowy.

Good luck to the boy(s?).

My wife is away this weekend, so it wasn't really possible for us to get down to Philly on Saturday. I offered to drive down early Sunday, but the kid wasn't sure she'd be at her best getting up that early and then spending a couple of hours in the car, and chose not to go. It looks like the Philly Marathon is this weekend, and goes through the same park that the USATF Jr XC meet is held at, so it might be a mess anyway.

Her soccer team picked up a last minute extra game on Sunday, so maybe it worked out OK.

For whatever it's worth, December in Reno is cold as balls (though to be fair, not "New Hampshire cold as balls").

Snow isn't common, but not unheard of (any precipitation would probably be snow, but precipitation in high desert is on the rarer side).

Yeah now that we're pretty sure Nate's team will qualify, we made up our minds that we're not spending $3K for 8-9 minutes of back-of-the-pack racing.

The Bowdoin Park course took some damage yesterday. There's a last minute proposal to move it to Van Cortland in the Bronx. This is going great.

His etsy site didn;t take off, but he made enough money selling the watches that he was able to buy some really nice watches.
