Cabrera has legal issues with alcohol and a messy divorce, as well as his decline (and he's got four(?) years left to further be mediocre). Ichiro began his career overseas. Pujols went in the tank with age and there were mumbles about his age when he was young.

Don't put it past one guy to not vote for anyone for a dumb reason, especially because "getting in the first-time on the ballot" is treated like a special thing, let alone "unanimous".

If I had to bet on one active player, it would be Verlander.

Voters who check Vizquel but not Andrew and/or Rolen are going to give me an aneurysm.

I remember from my copy of Ball Four that the players came close to striking in 1969. They actually did strike for a few games in 1972.

NBC national news had one of those “In Remembrance” things about celebrities who died in 2020 and they listed every MLB HoFer who died including Phil Niekro from a few days ago but didn’t include Al Kaline. That shit shouldn’t make me mad but it does.

I was abreu and petite and maybe Wagner. I could be convinced on hudson fairly easily. Buerhle a bit more convincing.

Right. I was pointing out the inconsistency in Rosecrans’ approach to his ballot.

I mean, regardless of our positions on PED users who were caught (or not), perjuring themselves about PED usage on the floor of the United States House of Representatives etc., you can question the approach of a writer who goes out of his way to separate Manny Ramirez from his PED usage and multiple suspensions, yet scrutinize Sosa’s 609 HRs because he hit too many of them in too short of a timespan. That’s...interesting.
