Sitting in the pick up line at school and the car In front of me is blasting RATT. Rock on.

ETA: and there’s a little white fluffy bichon looking dog on their lap, with its head out the window

Rock.
I felt aswirl with warm secretions.

A couple down the street were beside themselves with joy yesterday afternoon, because they were on their way to Shoreline Amphitheater to see Def Leppard and Motley Crue. Sheesh.

Yeah. I told them to Rawk On! I would have enjoyed myself if I had joined them, but I would've been embarrassed to be there.

oh absolutely. I actually went and saw Poison/Cinderella/RATT and some c list one hit wonder band (edit: I think it was Dokken or Slaughter) at Riverbend in cincinnati many moons ago. It was awesome.

And SC, one man's Motley Crue is another man's Flying Burrito Brothers. Also, when you suggested early in this thread to do a CD swap...that is legit old man stuff and it was 7 years ago!

actually found a tool that could upload titles from a local playlist (.m3u) to Spotify, though (humblebrag) my collection has things Spotify doesn't

I can only come up with Gilmore, Townsend, Daltry, Bob, Wood, and Fry.

I think the guy next to him is that Scottish comedian but can't think of his name.

The tweet that gave all the names was deleted, but here is a review of the event through a very vintage blog post.

https://myvintagerock.com/2012/10/15/th ... june-1996/

It has a few more of the names. Oddly, Clapton and Alanis Morrissette don't appear in the picture. And as for Frank Bruno(!), he's looking pretty good considering that it was three months from his second Tyson fight.

Howard hasn't logged into the Swamp in nearly 2 years. His last post was over 4.5 years ago.

DC hasn't logged in in a year. His last post was a month before Howard's last post.

Anyone know why both left? And why did both stop posting in Jan/Feb 2018?

DC was certainly not you-know-who. I had dinner with him in Ann Arbor once. Nice guy.

Howard told me directly that he left primarily because his politics weren’t in step with the Swamp. Also, he said he was dealing with some health and personal issues, but he didn’t elaborate on that.

HDO is on Facebook, so some of us keep in contact that way. He left mostly in protest of you-know-who getting banned (although he did come back occasionally after that.)

I share Facebook messages with hdo occasionally. He’s had some health problems but lately seems to be doing fine. I’d say he’s in his 70s at least which makes him the second oldest swamper after tennbengal.

So, I've been writing all day, and having a great time getting ahead of deadlines by creating silliness for kids. And sure, I finished my first bourbon and am into the second beer...

But I will go to the grave saying that this is one of the greatest albums ever released. EVERY song is fantastic, and a couple of them are downright classics.

Obviously I'm biased, but Philly Soul is just a fantastic subgenre. Just great song after great song.

I went and saw Roxy Music Monday night. Most of the original guys (albeit with lots of help - I counted 13 in the band.). Great presentation. Phil Manzanera is still an excellent guitarist, and Bryan Ferry is still a great front man (at 77 - it was his birthday!)

St. Vincent opened. Good pairing. Interesting show.

50 Years Ago Stevie Wonder Heard The Future

An appreciation of Stevie Wonder, the "Talking Book" album and his incredible run of great music in the early 70s.
In their test run — a three-day weekend working together in the studio — Wonder wrote 17 songs. From 1972-74, with Wonder writing the songs and Cecil and Margouleff programming the sounds, they would make four landmark albums: “Music of My Mind,” “Talking Book,” “Innervisions” and “Fulfillingness’ First Finale.”

Sure, but they expanded their sound in the second LP..I guess they didn't spend enough time fleshing out new material.

Anyway, what a time for music.
