Recency bias and whatnot but the last couple of episodes of season 5 have been about as intense as anything BB managed. Lalo is a pretty incredible creation.

Just unreal finish to that story for sure. Writers, direction, acting all absolutely elite.

Lalo was a fantastic character. Breaking Bad and BCS both did a great job with compelling antagonists.

Aw man, Howard. He was so good in that scene that I forgot just long enough about it being obvious since at least learning he hired a PI to tail Jimmy that he was going to get caught up in the cartel shit. And that was a cliffhanger? Midseason, but still. Jeez...

I don't know if this is going out on a limb, but I found BCS to just flat out be a better show. That's relative, of course, but I just thought there weren't so many eps that kind of tailed off or got lost in exposition or tangents. I think Gilligan learned not to lose the audience with BCS.

I had the same thought and also took into account recency bias. I’m gonna rewatch both in a year or so.

Agreed. I think it's incredible that they took a prequel with mostly new characters and made another amazing show. But I don't think it was as good as Breaking Bad. I can understand folks that think otherwise though.

(I also just remembered that part of my issue with BB has nothing to do with the show... I tended to binge BB a lot more than BCS and I think there were times when I wasn't so much enjoying the show as "getting through" episodes. I should probably watch it again some day but limit to one ep. at a time. I watched BCS in real time, pretty much the whole way through.)

Which, in my opinion, was the best show on TV, maybe ever.

If it’s not, it’s certainly in the discussion.

It's about time for my annual attempt to get into The Wire. Maybe I make it past four episodes this time!

We're all rooting for you.
They are moving the chess pieces into play that first season. Worth it for the payoff later in the series.

This. Let it play out. I had the same issue you are having in terms of getting kinda overwhelmed with the early exposition.

It is very much worth it.
