What Brian said.

But you can derive the point from the mash up itself. It's a white person recipe that murdered mac and cheese.

Edit:

Just read the "part 2" of And initial post in the Thanksgiving thread. It describes the black Thanksgiving menu and "white people shit" is covered.

Got it! (Funny article too)

But what is considered proper mac and cheese?

The one in the video looked disgraceful - enough to get Italians as well as Black people upset.

Well, in defense of the sentiment of the video, mac and cheese does get messed up when you throw in all those superfluous ingredients.

I'd venture to say mac. And, uh, cheese.

Let's YouTube it...

(I think even a bacon and green chile mac and cheese would be considered improper. And I'd make that.)

Last night I figured out another piece of why Kenan Thompson pisses me off so much ... half his characters are just bad "John Witherspoon in Friday" impressions. I don't know how it took me so long to notice that.

And, of course, "John Witherspoon in Friday" means nothing to me.

He's like a slightly funnier Kenan Thompson, but without the constant smirk.

Kenan's lengthy career on SNL is just puzzling. I think he's actually been funny like twice.

The only thing Kenan Thompson is funny on is Black Jeopardy. Those are usually pretty decent though.

That's exactly the example I was thinking of that I like. One bit in like 15 years of SNL.

Every time. Love the way Thompson works up a sweat. I want to be Sudekis’ character for Halloween one year. I think my favorite is the one with Ernest Borgnine and Morgan Freeman (and Lindsey Buckingham).

Seeing Kenan Thompson on SNL for the first time was like seeing Mike the Miz on the WWE for the first time. Both times I went "Oh, ok. Huh."

Both were on programs when I was younger (All That and the Mighty Ducks for Kenan, Real World Back to New York for Mike) and I didn't think they would progress from there.

But then they did and were successful.

Kenan being the longest member on SNL is an interesting thing and can be looked at in a variety of ways (combination of some of these).
* On one side it is he is very good at doing it, can handle the stress, writes funny stuff, etc.
* I can't even figure out the diversity dynamics of SNL, but I am sure they are in consideration.
* Maybe Kenan is good but not good enough. Many SNLers have left the show because they have gotten opportunities for movie careers and a solid sitcom. But Kenan has not been pulled in that direction.
* Or because he came from a solid TV and movie situation (Yes Good Burger) he has been there and done that and not interested.

Apparently Kel Mitchell (of Kenan and Kel, All That, Good Burger) bombed his SNL audition. Apparently Tina Fey did not find his DMX in Toy Story bit and Michael Jackson allergic to trees funny.

Keenan is a "better than average" SNLer on the all-time list. He saves a lot of skits with his go to facial or verbal twerks and he has REALLY good timing. Also, doesn't tend to forget his lines and it takes at least a few ppl breaking character for him to go.

That said, he's pretty one-note and if you look at the slew of people that have left to go to do bigger and better, they just have a lot more range and depth. It's not a huge knock on the guy that he's got less range than Bill Hader, Amy Poehler, etc etc I don't think people understand what a golden age we lived through over that 5-7 year run.

And, yes, diversity plays into it somewhat, but at some point he really wasn't helping Lorne's cause much on that front, which brought on Leslie Jones and the new black woman I can't remember and the other woman of some middle eastern decent I also can't remember the name of... Oh and the other young black guy whose name escapes me.

I'll just throw this out here - I have seen dozens of improv comedians in clubs around Toronto who would be funnier than Leslie Jones. She is quite simply terrible. And while her size and colour may have held her back to a certain extent early in her career, it is all that she has going for her as a performer. I mean, Christ, she's got a gig that thousands of comedians and actors would kill for, and she can't even memorize lines!

Its a great movie.

Wait...you don't watch movies? At all? Or just not very many?

The only person I know who doesn't watch movies is my father. He generally just can't sit still for that long without wanting to get up and putter around on something else. He will be a good sport and take grandkids/great-grandkids sometimes, but that's about it.

I'm pretty sure Gunpowder doesn't either. And maybe not Sabo? I don't get it either.

Edit: The "it" I don't get is not seeing movies.

Depends on the movie.

Godfather - perfectly acceptable

Mary Kate and Ashley take Manhattan - you need to be on a watch list.

I don't mean a single movie 4,000 times, I mean the whole body of movies. The only individual thing I've ever watched 4,000 times is this:

This entire conversation has me dumbfounded. There’s been years I’ve seen 100 movies between the theater and home viewing that I hadn’t seen before, separate and apart from a bunch I rewatch with regularity. I think my record for a calendar year is 40 in the theater in 1999.
