US Open 2015

Post by A_B »

I for one am pumped about this week. Very interested to see this course. I LOVE the changing pars on 1/18 and the different tee boxes on par threes. I think that's a really cool way to change how a course plays. Gimmicky? Yeah. Unique? Definitely. Prime Time golf? Sign me up!

The old generation in me will be rooting for Lefty to get his career Grand Slam. Go Phil!

Also interested to see how Fox fucks up the broadcast. Greg Norman ... really?

Waiting for the guest cameo by Tim McCarver, too.

I think we take good golf broadcasts for granted because the big tournaments never seem to switch networks (until now).

That course looks perfect for TV, but horrifying for the average golfer.

And let's be thankful... no Gus Johnson.

Just listened to Richard Deitsch's podcast with Joe Buck about this, and other topics. I just don't care for him at all.

Week long forecast is for wind to not be a factor.

Unusual for a links course, but apparently normal for this time of year there.

The 11th is a 537 Par 4, that's nuts.

It is true some days the 1st will be a Par 5 and other days the 18th will be a Par 5?

Yes, apparently they will flip the pars based on wind directions. If one is a 5, the other is a 4 and vice versa.

Yes, (as a sailor), its pretty well known that the winds generally are light around here in the summer. What little wind there is usually builds in the late afternoon/early evening (as the land heats up).

WEll, their on course person on the featured holes is pretty fucking terrible so far. She has talked under(which I am using to mean she thinks her mic is off but it is not and says a few words before realizing it or someone else does) the announcers several times.

Tin Cup reference already, which i can appreciate, though.

And this course requires someone who is long and straight off the tee. Probably helps to have experience on links style courses. Which means it's Rory. Sleeper is sergio!

Course looks very cool.

I read somewhere that people shoudl embrace this look and, what with water shortages, should not be snobbish about green all the time. It's a fair point.

When Britain annexed the Pacific Northwest. A surprise kind of thing, while we were distracted in the middle east.
