I heard they sold out in 20 minutes.

Something has to be done about the event...either more people or regionalize.

What needs to happen is for BA to use someone else besides TicketBastard. First during the members only pre-sale the site doesn't accept membership numbers, then problems again today. Oh, and tickets show up on Stubhub and Craigslist MINUTES after the sale ends. The problem is that a good portion of the tickets go to resellers not those hitting refresh on their browsers at 10:05 AM.

So, my local grocer had a thing tonight called, "Mystery Bag o' Beer" for 7.99, so we (my wife) gave it a shot. Pretty pleased with the surprise contents: a big bottle of German stout, some good California craft beers, (Bear Republic Rye, a Speakeasy stout, and a big Moylan ipa). Also a Negra Modela and the new Bud label.

That's pretty cool (and that's Black Crown which has specialty malts! It was a brewmaster's "special" from In-Bev/AB.)

ETA: and that's a fantastic price those bombers usually run 6$ by themselves.

I've had the Negro Modelo and it is pretty "meh", but the Weltenberger is fantastic!

I'm partial to Pacifico, especially in the summer. It's got a lot more flavor than your typical Mexican beer.

I like Pacifico, good hot day outside beer. But Presidente is the best of the Latin American beers. Maybe Negro Modelo, been years since I have had either.

I got a soft spot for Tecate because it tastes just like Milwaukee's Best. When I was in college I went to Puerto Vallarta with my friend and her parents. First night we went to a really fancy restaurant, and I didn't know from Mexican beers, so I ordered a Tecate. All the other beers were served in nice stemware. The Tecate? Plunked down in the shiny red can.

I had the New Belgium Coconut Curry this weekend. It was very tasty. I also had Sierra Nevada's Red IPA (not on your list). It's also good.

Bought a 6 pack of the Anchor Brewing Bigleaf Autumn Maple Red Ale at Trader Joes. My wife did not like it, but I thought it was pretty tasty.

The coconut curry was the most intriguing for me, but the commenters didn't seem to impressed.

I liked it a lot. Of course, it was on draft at one of my favorite spots in St. Pete, and not in a can or bottle. I thought it was an easy drinker, and the coconut and curry flavors weren't overpowering. It was much better than the Lost Coast Tangerine Wheat beer that I had (way too much tangerine).

Our biggest local brewery, Four Peaks, released its Pumpkin Porter today. This is by far their most popular seasonal (and the best pumpkin beer I've had) and they usually have to start rationing it to make sure there is some left for Thanksgiving weekend. But this year, thanks to their expanded facility, they are offering it in cans for the first time.

There is a 2 case limit at the brewery, might have to make a couple of trips.

List of 20 best beers in the world. I have only tried 3 (Stone Russian Imperial Stout, Samiclaus and Goose Island Bourbon County Stout). Bourbon County and Samiclaus are my two favorite beers.

A fairly silly list - way too many American brews on there.

However, no doubt that they are all great beers - I've only tried two on the list, the Samichlaus and the Westvlerten 12. And I will gladly have them again sometime soon.

Funny how sites are different. This is based on RateBeer rankings, I've had 17 of these. Of Beer Advocate's top 20 ranked beers, I've had 7.

What I didn't get about the article is why this needed to be done by a Stanford student and professor when all they seemingly did was take the 20 highest ratings off of a website. I find my tastes are much more in line with rankings on Beer Advocate than Ratebeer. No idea why that would be, but I think it's because the Beer Advocate reviewers are more pretentious and douchey, so I fit in.

I have 2 bottles waiting for cooler weather: Bourbon County & Expedition stouts.

A lot of the brewers on that list aren't available locally, or it would be much higher.

I have seen Mikkelers in a couple of stores, but not a variety I was particularly interested in. Maybe a brown ale or something. And I wasn't willing to spend $10 on a small bottle.

Probably not for the IPA's. Both are very good, but the hype is SO big.

KBS is extremely good. I actually am less of a fan of barrel aged stouts than most. Breakfast Stout is awesome to start, and it definitely doesn't get worse in this one.

and that's not right of RateBeer as the RIS is ranked 28

Did get a Hill Farmstead in my trip back east. Zman next year I'll send you an Uncle Jacobs from Avery. 17.85 ABV barrel aged stout. It is worthy of it's 100 rating.

That Rumble in the fall beers is quite tasty as well, though I have a soft spot for barrel aged IPAs.

Tried the Hennepin at a party a while back. Not my usual style, but it was really good. For my Jersey peeps, I went back to the Buy Rite in South Plainfield on route 22 recently, and they expanded their already great selection of craft beers. They are a little pricey though. Still waiting for them to get the Founder's KBS. They have a mailing list for it, but sell out immediately. Must. Get.
