"Because I have shitty taste in music" should suffice.

But I'm enjoying it ironical-like.

Impossible. That song, and fucking Delilah, can eat a bag of dicks.

You obviously haven't let the song play long enough to get to the children's chorus. I laugh every time.

I think the Swamp ruled almost unanimously that that was the worst Xmas song a couple years ago.

I agree. It's a horrible song. I still don't mind hearing it a couple of times a year.

I'm going to write a response to that song from the perspective of the disgusted mother who can't believe her stupid kid buys her shoes instead of medicine.

"Son, I wonder how could you ..." was my plan for the first line.

I just love the idea of a song where the entire family is berating a stupid kid and at the end the mom dies and they joke about having him go buy the casket.

"Dad was drunk".

Something similar happened to me but it was The Most Offensive Song Ever Written.

BTW, rather than trying to explain why I really thought the song was funny, I suggested that the kid was just scamming the narrator, and therefore there was no dying mom leaving the song (or at least the conversation) with a happy ending.

I honestly have no clue about the song being discussed - but this sounds like a sequence from a Tyler Perry movie.

The noive.
CHITTENANGO, N.Y. — The Native American tribe leading the movement to change the name of the Washington Redskins plans to open a $20 million casino that pays homage to the work of L. Frank Baum, who was born in this village outside Syracuse and later wrote “The Wonderful Wizard of Oz.”

Just one problem with the Oneida Indian Nation’s Yellow Brick Road Casino: A decade before Baum wrote one of this country’s most celebrated children’s tales, he campaigned for a Native American genocide.

Francesa's opener today was mocking music radio DJs who don't know sports but talk it on days like today.

This was actually about the Rangers Game 7, a sport he knows nothing about but will speak authoritatively on for a few weeks per year when the Rangers advance past the first.

I was going to comment on Friday (but glad I didn't since it allowed Syb to chime in here like a Francesa expert and completely miss your point) that I think he usually does a good job of booking hockey guys and deferring to them, but I did spend the last month+ changing the station anytime the Rangers were mentioned, so you might be right. At least I can safely listen to the FAN this June if I want to.

Every time this thread gets bumped I keep thinking it's going to be about the American woman killed by a lion in a lion park in South Africa (though I agree with the anti-irony crowd on that one). If you go hanging with lions and get eaten by one...well, you were kind of asking for it.

I was just dusting off my Francesca impersonation and assuming he didn't want to talk about the FIFA scandal because he hates soccer.

Is it considered ironic when two professional athletes take part in a live charity event to raise money for athletes who have suffered career ending injures only for one of them to receive a career ending injury in the process?

I would have, but both players already retired. So close. I've never shied away from gruesome sports injury videos, but I just can't watch this one for some reason.

I'll give the irony nod, and as one who shies away from injury videos, I will be very careful about clicking links emailed to me over the next few days.

Sure!
