The Heath Ledger (aka the vaping thread)

Post by mister d »

Do we have a dedicated thread for very popular stuff we've either intentionally ignored or not been exposed to?

"Trap Queen": I'd heard of the song and then yesterday read that Fetty Wap (real name Willie Maxwell) was from Jersey and missing an eye so I read a little bit and then checked out the song on YouTube expecting to like it a little. I did not. I would give it a grade of "very bad". But he still seems like a pretty interesting dude, so there's that.

Yep. Same here.

Mad Men as well. Watched two episodes and couldn't be bothered to watch the third.

Who is Heath Ledger?
And his one problem is he didn’t go to Russia that night because he had extracurricular activities, and they froze to death.

Is it a real thing? I thought it was something people who live outside of major cities attribute to "hipsters" but that doesn't actually have any real foothold.

Most conversations with people I know that "vape" go likes this:

Me: So you quit smoking finally? Good for you man!

Them: Yea, I just carry around this 2 lb cig with me and bottles of juice now.

Me: Just to take the edge off till you're ready to drop it completely?

Them: Yea, it's whatever you know. The vape is harmless because there's no tobacco so I'll probably stop someday.

Me: I understand, I quit dipping a while back and it was hard to get off it completely. I switched to pouches from long cut so that was a step, but then decided I had to just give it up.

Them: NO MAN I TOLD YOU. There's no tobacco! It's not a cigarette!

Me: So just to be clear, you're breathing in something that isn't air, that you get from the local head shop, and you have no desire to stop that at any point in the future.

Them: Whatever man, it's not that easy to quit. These are basically harmless

/Scene

I really don't give a shit either way. Just makes me laugh when someone yucks it up in a group about how they quit smoking and it was so hard and they're hitting an e-cig every 2 minutes. And don't get me started on the pricks who want to get around the smoking bans with them. "It's just water vapor, it's not hurting anyone!" Yes, I'm aware of that, but I don't want to stand in a public area while you're billowing SnoopCloudz all over the place.

Given there are seemingly about 1,000 vaping and e-cigarette stores in Cleveland, I'd say it has a pretty strong base.

Dumb moron at jury duty on Tuesday got read the riot act by the court clerk because she was vaping in the jury room even though they said during the instructions it was a non-smoking area including any and all kind of electronic cigarettes.

It's the same general idea. Vaping is just an expanded version. Maybe a e-cig:vape pen as cigarette: cigar

Hookah is still smoking – you're inhaling stuff that gets burned with a flame. Vaping is inhaling vaporized whatever. Vapor ≠ smoke.

(I stick to edibles 80% of the time, although keep a stash of various strains for the occasional toke.)

It's not terribly difficult to take an inconspicuous hit from a vape pen in a bar (or wherever). Sparking up a fattie, not so much.

The e-cid/vaping explosion has been pretty startling. Suddenly now, you can't drive through a small town without seeing some Vegas-style, light-covered TOBACCO store. I had forgotten that those things (tobacco shops) used to exist 20-30 years ago. Now there are more than ever. I"m assuming this is mostly because you can suck that metal dong mostly anywhere instead of having to stand out in the rain.
