The Official 2015 World Series Thread

Post by Joe K »

I figure we might as well get this thread started. Am I the only one who thinks Terry Collins is making a bit of a mistake pitching Syndergaard in Game 2 instead of Harvey? They're both really good, but Harvey is better, and I would think that you want to make sure that he gets two starts if the series wraps up in six games. I guess the Boras innings thing could still be at play here, but I'd be a little surprised if that's still an issue for the World Series.

ETA: Looks like Collins changed his mind and is going to go Harvey, then deGrom, then Syndergaard. I like that rotation a lot for the Mets. Should be a very interesting series, but I'll do with Mets in 6 for my prediction.

Mets in 3 after Yost figures out a way to not be able to field a legal lineup in Game 4.

He's not the best yet, but it I had to pick just one going forward it would be Syndergaard. Just insane stuff. DeGrom looks like he's running on fumes at this point. Mets in 6.

1. There is a pretty weak correlation between starter FB speed and FB value (fangraphs).

2. Most pitchers throwing 95+ are relievers.

3. Only 12 starters with 80 or more innings averaged 95+, 3 were the NYM trio.

Raul Mondesi Jr. jumping from AA to the World Series.

(This is a painful one. Mondesi's debut was when I was in HS.)

He isn't even listed on the 40-man. He isn't even 21yo. I am amazed having super inexperienced guys pinch-running in big games/playoffs hasn't backfired more often. It seems the Giants have been very lucky in this regard (Matt Duffy/Juan Perez last year.)

This one is a bit weird unless Gore is hurt and I don't know it. They must either have some plans for hitting for Escobar or actually using Mondesi in a role outside of PR in the NL park.

Friend of mine named World Series Crew Chief. Gary Cederstrom, #38, from ND. He had the plate in Game 5 of Mets-Dodgers. This is his 3rd World Series assignment.

Great umpire, better person.

Lots of folks around the internets hailing Cederstrom as a great guy. I've noticed he is one of those umpires I never notice, the best evidence of his excellence as an umpire.

I like Joe Buck. I know Im in the minority.

Vasgersian just blabbers nonsense. When they switched over he recapped the game by saying "Escobar hit the first ever WS inside the park home since a long time"

Thats not even a proper sentence

Ive always thought Granderson is one of the better players of this era. Good speed and power. But looking at his career stats they are quite low. Was it injuries? Id expect him to have 2000 hits.

Now Fox, and local NY radio are reporting Volquez was unaware of his father's death. Unreal if true.
