I went into Home Depot yesterday, and the Halloween stuff was all gone and replaced with Christmas trees and huge inflatables.

I don’t understand people who buy and put up Christmas trees so early. It will be dried out and dropping needles before Christmas.

Who the fuck is putting up live trees so soon? When we did a live tree it was tops 3 weeks.

I like to decorate in November, but yeah, the tree isn't bought until around T'giving.

SC still thinks of the fake trees as the metal ones that they sold back in his hey-day. Or the tinsel ones.

Annual fight here of whether the weekend after Thanksgiving is too early (which it is).

Same. Except last year we knew we'd be out of town that weekend, so we put them up the weekend before. It was awesome.

I mean, pretty lights during the shortest days of the year, I see no reason to delay that.

To be clear, they aren’t selling live trees here yet, either. But I used to have a neighbor who put up his tree Thanksgiving weekend, and as I said, dried out and dropping needles before Christmas.

As a kid we always had a real tree and put it up around December 1. I remember putting an aspirin in the tree stand with the water but I have no idea what that was supposed to do.
I would like expensive whiskey.

FIFY

We bought a fake tree in 2020. Daughter was getting really down during the lockdown/home school era and she was asking. We put it up, along with other lights and crap, a couple days before Thanksgiving as we always host Thanksgiving and it does make the house look festive.

when we moved to Buf and got our house ~5 years ago my aunt gave me their old artificial tree, but last year it sorta (did) fell apart. It was all easy and good last January to say fuck it, drag the carcass out to the garage, and say "yeah next year we'll get a real tree, that's fine" but now it's November and the day of reckoning approaches. I haven't bought a tree in...? 15 years at least. I am absolutely going to float the idea of a Charlie Brown tree this weekend.

Watching the Rockafeller tree lighting and Barry Manilow looks like Odo from DS9 in a bad wig.

Katherine McPhee looks pretty great, though.
