This is the month my episode airs. My first appearance is Wednesday, January 13. I've seen (or competed in) all the games for the first two full weeks of January, but I'll mark my responses as per when I viewed/played the clues.

(And not to toot my own horn, but maybe a slight alteration in the thread title might be in order.)

Anyway, I nailed Friday night.

Anyway, the woman who was returning champ was very sweet. The dude who won last night was cool. I bonded with the third player b/c she lives in Jersey City, which I've always been a fan of, and liked more than Hoboken.

You know what they say, Ryan. If you go into the Jeopardy Green Room and see an asshole, then they're an asshole. If you go into the Jeopardy Green Room and see twelve assholes, then you're the asshole.

We were actually all rooting for each other to do well. Later in the first week there was a rocket scientist on there, who bet big on a DD. All the competitors in the audience were nodding. When she missed it, we were all pretty disappointed.

Missed this one too. Not at all happy about it.

If you guys have been around the interwebs or watched, you probably saw the champ said "Auburn" for the school known as the Crimson Tide. A funny little story there is a contestant Lizzie (you'll see her Thursday) is a student at Auburn. When the clue popped up, the contestants looked over to her, and when he got it wrong, she gave the wide-eyed, mouth agape, arms-wide, palms-up "What the Living Fuck?" look at the guy.

Anyway, stories about the contestants:

Alex, the woman with the ink, had her husband who is a tattoo artist in San Diego. About a month before taping, their shop was burglarized and they lost about 30 grand worth of equipment, which was literally one day after their insurance was updated. The tattoo artist community in San Diego donated new needles, guns, and inks to them so they wouldn't need to shutter until the check came in.

Steve, the engineer who won Tuesday, shared a cab back to the hotel with me, P-Rm, and L-Jam2 (I took my folks out there as an anniversary present). Good quality guy. We were joking on the ride back that The Californians sketch on SNL was not inaccurate, as the ride from LAX to the hotel he said his own cabbie was giving directions on the phone to another guy like "Take the Four-Oh-Five, cross over Wilshire, then take the One-Oh-One..."

Here's a bit of trivia. Orwell reputedly chose the year 1984 as the setting for that other book merely by transposing the year he wrote it, 1948. It was published the next year, 1949.
