Antonin Scalia

Post by DaveInSeattle »

Maybe?

This is the only link so far...so take with a grain of salt...
Associate Justice Antonin Scalia was found dead of apparent natural causes Saturday on a luxury resort in West Texas, federal officials said.
Scalia, 79, was a guest at the Cibolo Creek Ranch, a resort in the Big Bend region south of Marfa.
According to a report, Scalia arrived at the ranch on Friday and attended a private party with about 40 people. When he did not appear for breakfast, a person associated with the ranch went to his room and found a body.
U.S. District Judge Fred Biery said he was among those notified about Scalia's death.
"I was told it was this morning," Biery said of Scalia's death. "It happened on a ranch out near Marfa. As far as the details, I think it's pretty vague right now as to how," he said. "My reaction is it's very unfortunate. It's unfortunate with any death, and politically in the presidential cycle we're in, my educated guess is nothing will happen before the next president is elected."

Obama will probably be ok waiting because he wants the seat.

2 thoughts:

- Clarence Thomas is scared as hell, because he won't be able to copy off Scalia's paper anymore.

-Donald Trump is furiously reading up on how the Supreme Court works before the Republican Debate tonight.

This will likely be one hell of a confirmation battle, my guess is that Obama appoints a well respected moderate (Merrick Garland is my guess) who gets confirmed after a bunch of GOP posturing. It would be pretty absurd to have a vacant Supreme Court seat for 11+ months, which is what will happen if the Senate just refuses to confirm anyone.

That's crass and terrible.

A simple "Blow me dead maggot" would have been much more tasteful.

The name that's getting thrown around as a potential replacement is Sri Srinivasan. Considering that he was confirmed for his current seat on the DC Circuit (which has long been a steppingstone to the Supreme Court) just 3 years ago by a 97-0 vote, it would sure be interesting to see how the GOP would justify blocking him.

GOP has no good options here.

Either they block any and all nominees which is what the base obviously wants but it helps the Dems in November or they approve an Obama nominee.

If I were to ever own a throne forged from the bones of my enemies, I'd feel a little disappointed if one of them wasn't his. He stood for everything I despise about my species and my country.

Shocked I could make it to the 4:00 mark without punching a hole in my screen.

We will see the "2nd amendment written out of the constitution?!" I'm no expert of the Constitution, but that simply is not how things happen is it?

You need to cut Ted some slack for not understanding how the Constitution or the Supreme Court work. After all, he is only a Princeton graduate with a degree in political science, Harvard Law grad who made Law Review, Supreme Court Clerk for Chief Justice Rehnquist and as Solicitor General for Texas, represented the State in 9 cases before the Supreme Court.

Yesterday on “Trunews,” End Times radio host Rick Wiles discussed “the possible occult connections” to the death of Justice Antonin Scalia, whom he concluded was murdered by President Obama and was a human sacrifice to mark the pagan festival of Lupercalia.

Wiles explained that the “Luciferian” “devil-worshipers” who control the government are out for blood, noting that Lupercalia is observed between February 13 and 15. Scalia’s body was discovered on the 13th. “There’s always human sacrifice involved,” he said, claiming that Scalia was “killed” to mark the beginning of pagan fascism ruling over the U.S.

“The 13th was the 44th day of 2016, Obama is the 44th president of the United States,” Wiles said, “so you have this numerology thing taking place.”

Wiles said that the assassins who killed the conservative justice “deliberately left the pillow on his face as a message to everybody else: ‘Don’t mess with us, we can murder a justice and get away with it.’ And I assure you, there’s a lot of frightened officials in Washington today, deep down they know, the regime murdered a justice…. This is the way a dictatorial, fascist, police state regime takes control of a nation.”
