Can't imagine they will be that many more.
Stan Lee, 93, shot 4 Marvel cameos in one day, and made it look easy
The studios are aware. And that's a news link from before his birthday too. The man has an unrelenting energy. It's amazing.

Probably more often than not just lazy writing, but parental abandonment is one of the classic hero tropes.

Granted. That's still a pretty common TV/movie trope though. I'll grant you it would be interesting to see a movie tackle that from the opposite perspective though. Or it would be a lot more unusual at least.

Alien : convenant was a waste of time. They kept most of the things I hated in Prometheus (especially the utter stupidity of supposedly traîned characters) and mixed it with a weak ass remake of the first movie, topping it off with a final twist so predictable I got angry while watching it.
You re better off rewatching Alien.

I thought it was ok-good. Definitely enjoyable. The scenery was amazing, and the overarching story that picked up from Prometheus was compelling. But yeah, the plot contained within this installment was pretty routine. You pretty much know what's going to happen at any given turn since they're not really covering any new ground. The "character stupidity" can be explained away easier in this one, since they're the crew of a colony ship and not military/scientists or whatever. The one things that bugs me the most (as it did in Prometheus) is

Wait a minute. When was there a fourth Pirates of the Caribbean movie? Maybe this could go in the Learn Something New Everyday Thread.

John Sayles is the most underrated American filmmaker and I don't know if it's close. If you haven't already do yourself a favor and watch Lonestar.
(He's got a fascinating career too writing grindhouse movies like Piranha, etc. Wrote a spec script that ended up becoming E.T. )

An anthropology professor at SWT (now Texas State) was the hands at the beginning when they found the badge. He was very proud of this. I feel like that's one of the most underrated movies of all-time.
Limbo was also a great movie with a perfect ending.
ETA: Piranha was filmed at SWT!

Emilio Estevez filmed a movie there during my time. There was a scene of him walking between Brogdon and Baretta dorms which is where I was living then.

I would think mature elementary school kids are good to go. A few war scenes are intense as that is more realistic than the usual comic book movie violence. 8 and up should be fine.

Daughter turns seven in a week. The wife wanted to take her, but I reminded her it's PG-13, which shifted it to "needing a pre-review". Thanks for being our panel.

I watched American ultra over a few nights. Decent. Nothing special. Kind of funny to see Eisenberg as a badass.
And I cannot tell you why but Kristen Stewart kinda does it for me.

17% currently. Rotten tomatoes meter throws me off. Is it one scale from 0-100 and "fresh" is at a certain threshold? What's that threshold? 70s?

I think 60 is fresh. They aggregate reviews by a thumbs up or down total.
And after watching the Black Panther trailer, that reminds me. I really need to see 42.

Second this.
It's all a matter of taste, but she reminds me of a couple of miserable women I knew back in the day.

I've sworn off superhero movies, but because of all the great reviews, I took the GF and my girls to see Wonder Woman.
And its really good. Chris Pine is great as the "love interest/sidekick", and Gal Gadot is fantastic.
