Saw the refence in the article to J Dilla and wondered how he is still producing music after he died 4 years ago. Also if you have never heard the story of the lost J Dilla tapes being found, it is a pretty good one.

I saw them with the Beastie Boys, and I'm 99% sure that was the summer of 98, so...I don't know?

Maybe your friend (and mister d, above) were both thinking of Rob Thomas?

I saw them in '96 as part of the Smokin' Grooves tour, if that helps.
