Yep.

Seems like this has been a strong week for Death. They say famous people die in threes ... not this week!

Learned about him when I started to get more seriously into soccer a decade or so ago. The Cruyff turn may be my favorite soccer move of all time: simultaneously deceptively simple and aesthetically brilliant.

7th grade soccer coach was obsessed with the Cruyff turn.

Best smashcut I've found today. Jesus Christ this guy broke ankles. Dudes must have HATED playing against him.

This was shared by the Men In Blazers. The guy was a wizard, especially with the lofted pitch type shots and passes.

Cruyff dying makes me miss the swamp soccer draft. That was a great thread.

Watching that Cruyff dribbling video makes me wonder why so few of those feats of dribbling brilliance led to goals.

I loved reading the story about how Cruyff had a special "Two Stripe" orange jersey made for the World Cup so he wouldn't go against his own sponsor, Puma, by wearing an Adidas kit.

His style was very similar to Messi on the dribble. Quick cuts, and amazing vision to see the path through and between defenders. Not too many flashy moves, just very quick cuts and and an amazing ability to squeeze through tight spaces.
