Swamp Playoff Hockey Pool 2016

Post by travzilla »

The Swamp NHL playoff challenge is back!

Just in the nick of time, Sportsfrog's #1 fantasy playoff hockey pool returns for 2016

How it works:

- Players are divided into 8 groups (see image below) based on points-per-game stats from the regular season. Each group has a progressively higher value for what playoff points are worth for players from that group. Like a handicap, to even out the value between a superstar and a 3rd liner.

-Teams (instead of individual goalies) are in group 9. Teams earn points for winning a series. Divisional 1st and 2nd place teams earn 4 points per series win, 3rd and 4th place teams earn 6 points per series win.

-Select a roster of any 12 players (from any group), with a maximum of 3 players from any single team.
-Select 1 team (not part of your 3-per-team max).

Scoring:
Goals and assists are wort 1 point each x the multiplier from their group.
OT goals count double.

PM me your roster by Thursday night.

GROUPS (pick 12 players and 1 team):

Very excited. Are people who submit after tonight's games going to get credit for those or not?

Example, 88 has a hatty tonight, if I pick him on my roster but don't submit until tomorrow am I forfeiting the points or are we just gonna roll everything in?

You've got to be kidding. No way you get the points for a game played before you submit. Get it in, now.

Also, Travzilla, please expect an entry from my friend who has posted here under the name of Spinner. (He was in the Swamp fantasy hockey league under the name of Morristown Express.)

What I usually do is accept entries after the first games have started, but you wouldn't accrue points until your roster is sent to me. So you can enter late, but it'll potentially cost you.

Received so far:

I'll send out a PM to people who were in last year who may not have been in the swamp this week.

Might set up the website yet if I have time (road trip in Nova Scotia at the moment, but tomorrow looks promising).

Malkin, Ge-no?

He's more likely to be back than Stamkos or Parise, for instance.

ETA: Not to make a mess of this given you already have entries. No biggie, though I almost regret not just asking you how many points an "off the board" player would be worth without specifying...

Yeah my bad on Malkin. Whatever I read yesterday still said mid-may, then during the game they said he wasn't far off. If anyone wants to take him, or switch him for someone else, he's in the 1.00 group.

And I forgot about write-in players too. Whoops.

I already thanked Mr. Zilla via PM, but I wanted to give a public shout-out for doing this again.

I'm just hoping for a top-three finish so that I'm eligible for the Champions League next year.

Standings after Round 1:

And I thought BSF has one of the better rosters going in, hard to believe this first round carnage:

Sabo was the most prophetic, with 3 Sharks and 4 Predators.

Anyone looking to catch me will be cheering against Dallas and Pittsburgh.

Are you doing the 2 for 1 swap/repick for eliminated players this year?

Not this year. Wasn't sure if I would have the time to manage it properly, so just a basic pool this year, all the bells and whistles will come back next year.

Yea I was sold on CHI and ANA getting through to the conference Finals. Knew Ghostbear was a reach. I think I picked 3 of the first round series correctly in my bracket.

In years past it was add 1 player for each 2 that are eliminated, but Trav says no go on that this year.

Dead fucking last. Watch 200 hockey games per year, don't know shit. Watch 3 minutes of horse racing a year, turn 20$ into 200$.
