Words fail me. Only thing I've seen like this is Bonds in the 73 HR season/Tiger.
It was just 17 points. What's the big deal?

Oh, in OT. Yeah, that's pretty pretty pretty good, for five minutes of game time. After only playing two games in the last 29 days. Etc. Jeebus.
Yeah, he only had the highest OT scoring game in NBA history (or at least, as far back as web stats go). Not too shabby.
Totally Kafkaesque

I just saw Paul Allen walking through the building (there is a Scientific Counsel meeting going on)...I think that he's still in shock from the game last night.

Just five games ago the Spurs didn't look nearly so old. This is sad.

Good lord - look what Duncan did to him...

On a series note - I sure didn't see that going like it did. But, man, OKC/Warriors should be offensively awesome.

Toronto is totally going to get the 2006 NBA Finals treatment from the refs tonight. Biyombo got called for offensive goaltending on a putback dunk that was the worst goaltending call you'll ever see. To make matters worse, he was hacked on the dunk so it should've been an and-1.

Sorry, Howard, but this is Patriots-level when it comes to absurd playing of the disrespect card. I'm not sure what Barkley said, but literally every single ESPN NBA analyst picked the Warriors to win this series. The Warriors are also huge favorites to win the series in Vegas. I think it opened at -1000.

I don't know what it opened at, but I doubt that high. When I looked before the series started it was -450/+350 which seemed about right. (Translated into percentages, giving OKC about a 20 percent chance to win the series.)

I may have gotten the numbers mixed up with the Cleveland-Toronto series, which seems like a colossal mismatch. Either way, even at -450/+350, the point holds that Golden State was a sizable favorite coming into the series among both NBA analysts and betting markets.

Cavs-raps is getting chippy. Granted, it's because torontos interior defense is shit and Cleveland is living at the rim. A team can only allow so many dunks.

If one of the first two teams fuck up you'll get one of the two very good prospects in a two prospect draft gotta show some faith and just believe and it might happen congrats in advance man!!!

I think the draft is weak enough that basically whoever Brad Stevens gets will end up being the best player.

I think Murray will be a good pro, but landing 3rd has to sting a bit for Boston. They already have Isaiah Thomas, Avery Bradley and Marcus Smart for their backcourt rotation. Murray may end up being better than some of those guys, but they could really used a skilled forward like Simmons or Ingram. Maybe that guy is Dragan Bender, but he may not be ready yet to help a 48-win team. I wouldn't be surprised if they trade the pick.

How many guys from last season would be the clear #1 in this draft? 5? 6? With the benefit of hindsight, Devin Booker would be a credible #1 here and he went 13th.

I think scouts are still pretty high on Simmons, so Towns is the only player I would confidently predict to go #1 in this draft. Porzingis probably goes no later than #2, as he probably projects much better than Ingram as a defensive force.

This is good analysis. Tim Welch says they should trade it straight up for Okafor, which makes at least half sense.

I mean, Ingram is not a demonstrably better prospect than the guy who played the same position for the same team a year earlier (and went 10th).

Ingram projects much better as an NBA shooter than Winslow did or does. Didn't Winslow have a pretty mediocre FT% at Duke, which was a red flag for his offensive game? Winslow will be a really good defender, but I'm not sure he'll ever be a plus player on the offensive end. And I think every NBA team would take an elite offensive wing prospect like Ingram over an elite defensive wing prospect like Winslow. Even Kawhi didn't have All-Star caliber value until he developed an outside shot.

Is this right? I don't follow "the league", but I would have guessed the top 3 would be KAT and Ingram/Simmons just based on size/athleticism. Those are difference maker types, no?

I think it would go 1. Towns; 2. Simmons; 3. Porzingis; 4. Ingram. Then probably DeAngelo Russell, if you aren't bothered too much by the off court stuff. I agree that there's a pretty big drop off after Ingram this year but he and Simmons seem to be almost universally considered can't-miss prospects. I don't think any team in the NBA would take Okafor, Winslow or Booker over Ingram. Booker probably comes closest since he's shown better point guard skills than he was expected to coming out of Kentucky.
