Inaugural Bensell Triple Crown Challenge

Post by A_B »

OK, here's the plan. In honor of the Swamp's foremost horse racing afficianodo (as well as Worldwide Frivologist and JukeBox Junkie) Bensell, let's do a five week contest. This is my plan:

- Everyone gets 20 Swampbucks per Triple Crown race, or $60 to start with
- You can bet that twenty dollars in as many separate bets as you like but you must use at least 20 swampbucks in each race (and no more than $20 in the Derby)
- I say at least 20 swampbucks because if you make money, you will be able to use your entire money pool in a subsequent race (for example, you cash $30 of tickets at the derby, which means you would have that 30 plus the twenty in reserve for the Preakness. Also, you may have less than $20 returned to you but that will be available as well (you only cash $10 back on your $20 bets, which would mean you have $30 for the Preakness). The caveat is that you must use AT LEAST HALF of your value over $20. (If you had $50 available you'd have to spend $35 and could bank an extra $15 for the Belmont)
- Rollovers will continue until the Belmont, where you can spend only the $20 or whatever else you may have (even if you have $100 in winnings, you are only required to spend the $20) but same 50% of anything over $20 must be wagered
- Most money after Belmont wins

Types of bets available will be
- Win, Place, Show
- Exacta, Trifecta, Superfecta (including Box bets for all exotics)
All bets bust be $2 minimum bet (though you can do $1 exacta/trifecta boxes which make the total bet over $2) with the exception of the Superfecta, which will be a minimum of 0.10

I will track and score each bet and announce the new totals the Monday after each race.

I'd be open to everyone that wants to putting in $5 and the winner gets that, but I would want someone to handle the paypal for that as I don't use paypal often and don't trust myself. You wouldn't have to be in the money pool to play the Challenge. Highest finisher among those putting money in would get the money. Highest overall finisher is the champion.

You can use this website to check how much your bet will cost for Trifectas and Superfectas

https://www.americasbestracing.net/gambling-calculator

Bets will be accepted so long as they are in this thread before the race goes off and HAVE NOT BEEN EDITED. If you miscalculate and your bets don't equal $20 before the race goes off, the FIRST BET LISTED will be increased by the shortage. If you go over your bankroll, the first bet will be reduced (even if that makes it less than the minimum).

Let's do this! Signify that you want in and I will update this list

If you don't get your bets in before post time, you will lose whatever your minimum betting amount is, be it $20 or $20+%50 of previous winnings)

Also, if a horse is scratched and you don't fix that bet, the money will be added to your FIRST BET. Or second and so on until the first bet without a scratched horse is found. If you only make one bet that ends up with a scratched horse and you don't fix it before post time, you will be credited with half your bet but will be REQUIRED to spend that amount the next race in addition to any 50% rule enforecements. If you fail to fix it for the Belmont you will lose the full amount.

I'm in. I hit the perfecta at the Belmont last year with my tiny wagering attempts (which conveniently nearly paid for the trip). I'd have had the tri too if I'd thought to play it.

No guarantee I'll be able to get a wager in, but there are ways around it.

Yeah, sorry. I have been in a conference and kinda rushed it. It's simpler than I made it appear. Just wanted to create a system that prevented someone who hit a big ticket in the derby ust sitting back and not betting on the last two races. Consider it a system to create action.

No, I did some searches for police reports in and around where I knew he used to live, but I think he was no longer in the same place and I didn't really know where to continue the search. There was nothing that showed up in the google searches other than obituary and one facebook thing from a friend of his with a public profile.

Lax you are way off. Those across three board bets are two dollars make bet amounts higher because it is actually tree or two different bets. You'd need to change your amounts to make it work.
