But, he's hitting great! Just got to get that ERA below 9.

Lincecum might've looked better in that spot in the rotation, eh?

Reds bullpen has been scored upon in 21 straight games. 18 of those games they have given up two or more runs.

Yes, that is a major league record. All the way back to 1869. It is glorious, how bad they are. Something to revel in and admire.

Except he couldn't throw when spring training started. His showcase workout was originally scheduled for February, I think. It is allegedly going to happen this week.

Reds bully extended streak to 22 (sorry bengal)

These one-run wins are murder on their differential. It sucks being a Cubs fan.

I followed the '84 Tigers closely - this reminds me of that - except the Tigers went 35-5 which is staggering. I guess this is closest to one of the Yankees teams (from '98?) for start, the '01 Mariners, the '86 Mets, and the 1970 Reds. That '70 Reds team got to 70-30 before apparently getting bored and finishing 32-30 over the last two months.

From O's game yesterday:
3rd time in Orioles Franchise history that the O's scored more than 10 runs all off homeruns
Josh Phegley, A's Catcher, struck out Adam Jones and then got a pop out on Trumbo.

So you think they'll make it out of the Division Series, then. That's good news.

Nope that is the division series. Giants over Marlins in the WC game when Bonds suits up for Miami in the 24th inning and Lincecum strikes him out

I saw a slightly different wording of that yesterday, something like "the Braves have the 7th (or 8th?) most wins at Turner Field this season". Haha.

After Sunday's sixth straight loss, the rush in the Detroit papers was to talk that Ausmus was on the hot seat, but it's not his fault. Last night, Ausmus reminded everyone that he can screw up, too (pinch-hit with Victor Martinez with a man on second and two out, Martinez IBB and lifted for pinch-runner, then sends up Saltalamacchia as a pinch-hitter, who immediately gets turned around by a relief pitcher and K's to end the inning). It feels like the over-under on him is always 1.5 moves behind.

Hot take: Given all circumstances, Strasburg's deal really isn't all that weird* and is probably smart.

*1 - He's not leaving that much on the table unless you think he could have found a 7 year max over $225MM or something.

*2 - If you're ever going to advocate for a hedge contract, its probably a (1) pitcher with (2) an injury history in (3) a walk year (4) pitching for a contender which means (5) he's looking at 220+ IP (6) if healthy for (7) a team that has every incentive to burn him out (8) under a manager adept at doing just that.

*3 - He saw first hand the worst possible case walk year scenario with Ian Desmond and its hard to believe that doesn't atleast sit in the back of his mind.

*4 - Yes, there's money left on the table with the deferrals, but I'd love to see data on how many players actually invest properly where what amounts to an early pension isn't atleast a decent idea relative to where the money actually goes.
