Swampcrash Idea - Overview and Sign-Up

Hey all,

I've been kicking around an idea for a new variant of Swampcrash. It would differ from the normal ones in a few ways:

-It would be run one question at a time, with eliminations (potentially) after each.
-The questions would have many more potential correct answers at first than a normal Swampcrash, getting progressively narrower as more people are eliminated.
-If you guess the same answer as someone else, both of you are eliminated. If you get a question wrong, you are eliminated. That's it.

This will work best if we have a large group of players, but at the same time I'm hoping everyone can commit to getting their answers in quickly, so that we can move on to the next question within a few days.

Let me know if you're interested and I'll see about getting this under way in the next week.

Been thinking this through some more and realized there were a couple flaws with the original plan:

-The instant-elimination aspect meant people wouldn't be allowed to participate at all once they get a common/wrong answer, which is no fun.
-There was no way to determine a winner once we got down to two people.

So, I'll change it up a little:

-If you get a common/wrong answer, you lose (gain) a point, but can continue to answer each round. The chances of winning after missing a question will be slim, but you can at least still participate and possibly gain the satisfaction of causing someone else to lose.
-The winner will be determined when a round ends with one person holding a lower score than anyone else. This could happen quickly, or could take a while.

I'm thinking of doing this through Survey Monkey with a link to each new question posted in the thread, to save everyone the trouble of having to send a PM or e-mail. This should help with the response time.

I'll get this started on Monday if there's enough interest. There won't be a formal sign-up--you can participate just by following the survey links, and jump in at any time to add to the response pool, though you'll get penalized for each question you didn't answer.

Isn't keeping everybody in the entire time for scoring purposes how Ryan has always done SC playoffs? I think it could still work.
