yeah to echo above the PA is fine with it, they don't care where their players go as long as they have jobs. And 23 new ones.
The owners will take a hit competitivewise but things go in cycles and teams gets good again. 500 million divided by 30 owners plus revenue from Vegas not having to suffer through 5 years of growing pains sounds pretty good.

It's more a concern for fans, they play amateur GM on the internet.

Would have huge implications on "us", too. If we wanted to trade for Barrie or resign Yandle, we'd either have to give back two forwards, know we'd lose one of Barrie/Yandle, Skjei or McD or, most likely, be "forced" into a Girardi buyout. Having that 3rd slot to play with would be a pretty big deal.

(Which I guess is just me playing GM.)

Even more official (though not officially official) today. And looks like it is only Las Vegas for 2017-18.

they are seriously not giving Quebec City a team because of conference imbalance. Only the NHL.

Honestly I think it's the Canadian dollar more than anything. If that situation improves maybe they'll add them for 2018-19.

Perhaps but if that's the case Quebec will never get a team. It's at 78 now which isn't that bad. Some are predicting a 59 cent dollar in the near future.

If so, maybe another good reason to not have added them. As much as I hate to say it. One of the things that made Winnipeg viable again was the dollars getting closer to par. A 59-cent Canadian dollar I'm sure imperils some of the smaller Canadian markets on some level.

You can build an ill advised arena anywhere, I'm speaking more to having a market to sustain a team.

I think Kansas City would be a better choice if you're going to crowbar a team into a city.

Good article on the Vegas expansion, with some decent commentary on Quebec, too. Mostly stuff you already know, but fairly short and worth reading.

Just learned the practice facility is going to be built a couple miles from my house. Maybe even less depending on where in the neighborhood they build it (though there's really only enough land on the west side of 215).

Cool, I'm hanging at Brian's next time I'm in LV. I promise not to wear any Bernie apparel.

Actually looks like it MIGHT be done by then. Guess it depends on how quickly they decide on the mascot and NHL approval.

Their team name has to be the bandits, right? And the mascot can only have one arm, right? And the missing arm is the left arm, right?

That would be my pick. Have the right sleeve be one color of the main jersey and the left something neutral.

"vegashashockey.com" is not a registered domain name. go get it Brian!

also The NHL won't prevent bets on games involving the Las Vegas team. Gary Bettman believes the sport isn't too susceptible to irregularities.

By the way, mine and Rams Fanny's tickets will probably be near the first few rows of the upper deck near centre ice. Should be great seats.

The biggest question to be worked out that really almost no one is talking about is that Las Vegas doesn't have a regional sports network. So it's a big, big question as to who is going to televise the games. Of course, there's a while to work that out, but Foley, in addition to having to put up $500M for the team and who knows how much for a practice facility and an entire front office, might have to start a regional sports network and work on getting it on cable, satellite, etc. Will be fascinating to see how that works out.

I went and looked at the original expansion draft in 67. NHL expanding from 6 teams to 12. It was crazy, how do you make 6 teams from 6 teams?
But believe it or not, they got to protect more players then the current teams will next year. Three goalies went 1,2, 3. Sawchuk to LA Kings, Parent to Flyers and Hall to the Blues.

And all 6 teams were put in one division to ensure one of them would make the Stanley Cup Final! Can you imagine that happening now in the social media age!

My tickets in San Jose are the first row of the upper deck, just inside the blue line. Great seats. Make sure you have good sight lines (check the aisles). And put yourself on the side your team attacks in the first and third periods. We checked on all that and I'm glad for it.
