Peters is definitely a blowhard. I remember reading some insane right wing columns he wrote about the Middle East back in the mid-2000s when Bush was president. He also managed to pull off the difficult feat of getting suspended from FoxNews for criticism of Obama back in 2015 when he called Obama a "total pussy" on live TV.

Yep, Peters is about as bad as it gets with hardcore Conservative wingnuts, so this says a lot. I really hope more will follow him. If these assholes ever believed a word of what they said, they wouldn't continue to tow the company line. Brian Kilmeade of Fox and Friends has even started t criticize Trump, and tamp down the propaganda Doocy and Jesus Barbie spew.

Their whole back and forth has been fucking crazy. Hannity keeps calling him a pervert and "Harvey Weinstein Jr."

I'm absolutely dying for Kimmel to call him out on his insistence that waterboarding isn't torture from like a decade ago that he hasn't followed through on.

Which is based on clips from 'The Man Show'....which was a scripted show, made years ago.

I wonder what co-creator Adam Carolla, who shows up now on Fox News shows time to time, thinks of that.

I can’t stand Hannity and I wish a colony of earwigs infested his scrotum, but... he isn’t totally wrong. Melania didn’t exactly choose to enter the public fray, and Kimmel dogging her on her accent is pretty cheap.

Should we start to pull up all the clips of Hannity saying terrible things about Hillary and Michelle Obama?

And its a HUGE stretch to go from 'Hey, making fun of Melania's accent is bad' to 'He's Harvey Weinstein Jr!'.

Trust me, Dave. You’re preaching to the choir there. It rich for someone who worked for Roger Ailes and with Bill O’Reilly and defended a child rapist in Roy Moore to attack someone as a sexual harasser.

I think Melania should be pretty much out of bounds but mostly because she’s not even doing 10 percent of the stuff Michelle Obama did (which itself was basically the same First Lady duties of most recent presidential wives other than Hillary (ie GWB, GHWB, Reagan, etc)

That said...it’s a little creepy that she’s a weird lust object for these creepers like Hannity, Rush etc especially given her soft-core porn history which no one ever talks about.

For Melania, it's the pact she made when she hitched her wagon to a publicity hound whose entire existence involves being in the public eye.

She's not a 5 year old and has been with him long enough to know what is going on. The fact that she appears on an "as needed" basis shows that she knows her role. Easter, Christmas, Mothers Day, trot her out to humanize her husband. If being in the public eye was an issue for her, she never would have had a second date (or appointment) with Trump.

This is why she's not out of bounds and deserves everything she gets:

I'm waiting for someone with balls to ask her to her face about Donald's infidelities.

Personally, I don't give a fuck about Melania either way. I feel some pity for her, but she chose to marry the creepy fucker, full well knowing what she was getting into, and admitted she married him for his money, so whatever she gets is deserved. What drives me nuts is all of the anti-immigrant shit Trump peddles when Melania was an illegal alien when she came over. She over stayed her visa and was working illegally in the country at the time she met Trump. If you ever need an argument to show Trump and his anti-immigration shot is racism, there you go. His followers freak the fuck out about brown people, but none of them care that a white European model was stealing jobs from hard working Americans with horrible giant bolted on titties.

The hypocrisy pisses me off, too. After 8 years of bashing Michelle for exposing her muscular arms, having a penis (that picture with the fold in her pants), and for the horrors of planting a garden near the rose ... garden. [She destroyed the White House with her row of kale!]. Or the months of pant shitting over how she was brainwashing out children by suggesting schools serve healthier lunches. [Fuck that, how dare you suggest school feed our kids healthy food instead of cheetos!]. Seriously, she was deemed a horrible America-hating monster because she wanted kids to eat healthy.

I can't recall any Dem or prominent Liberal ever saying anything negative about Laura Bush, and considering Melania's refusal to live in Washington, lack of doing First Lady shit, except for her anti-internet bullying (ha!) campaign, and the plethora of nude photos and disgusting husband, I think the Left has been very respectful in not attacking Melania. FFS, imagine if a Dem First Lady spoke with that accent, it'd be all Commie-conspiracy theories and "he hates America so much, he won't even marry an American." Imagine the Evangelicals if Michelle Obama had a career posing naked. I'm glad nobody on the Left attacks her over that, because who cares, but the "moral majority" and family values assholes sure throw their values out the window real fast.

Of course he won't. Making anyone viewed as dem or liberal or progressive apologize for doing what you yourself do and will continue to do is considered a win. It's like a small scale version of the Al Franken thing. Franken had to go, Republican much worse versions of what Franken did thrive. Double standards forever.

First Ladies are not off limits, kids are. Those are the rules. People tore Nancy Reagan to shreds, while simultaneously kind of liking her (mostly after they were out of the WH and not inflicting any real damage.)

It's not really about whether an ADULT chooses to enter the public fray. A functioning couple talks about the very real, truly immense downside that comes with living in the WH.

The fact that none of the Trump people thought they'd win, and many (including M) didn't WANT to win... That's not our problem, that's their problem now.

Fucking morons.

Yeah, I guess my feeling was is that it's shitty to attack someone on something they really had no control over or decision in, and Melania's accent to me is on that scale. Fuck Melania on everything else, though.

And this is a microcosm of my view now for the left. The GOP and their fans have zero scruples in terms of how they attack. They are either uneducated, backwoods, racists, sycophants, hypocritical and/or the fucking rich. They have no qualms about doing anything to keep them in power. And I know there's been friction on both sides since time immemorial, but I really remember it getting nasty after the 1994 midterms led by Gingrich. They were so infuriated that Clinton ended 12 years of Republican rule they went the obstinate, obstuctionist route.

(The fucking MLB strike, the Contract with America, Cobain offing himself, the rise of Green Day, the sellouts of Woodstock, MJ's suspension, and the Knicks in the Finals. Man, 1994 sucked.)

But anyway the way to fight back falls in two camps. I would love to do the "they go low we go high" way, but let's be honest. It wouldn't matter to guys like McConnell, Nunes, or those other shitbags. The GOP leadership would do anything to promote their brand. FFS, they're attacking high school kids who watched their classmates get turned into Swiss cheese by an AR-15 and calling THEM bullies for going after Ingraham. The GOP doesn't give a fuck about anything as long as they rally their base. It seems like the left needs to fight fire with fire, and unfortunately, too many of them are too principled to do that.

We've burned thousands of words talking about the false equivalency attributed to each party's response to partisanship.

The GOP's decent into hell started a long time before 94 and has its roots in Goldwater's candidacy. Wheels started turning (and money started flowing) to think tanks and PACs that were no longer interested in articulating what they thought was the right thing for America... It was all about gaining and maintaining power, by any means necessary.

The "modern" incarnation of the Goldwater movement really rests on the shoulders of guys like Grover Norquist, Ralph Reed and Jack Abramoff. They started plotting in the early 80s, gaining a Pat Robertson-driven/Christian Coalition movement that really helped drive the Gingrich-led shellacking in 94. The fact that guys like Dick Armey and Tom Delay were part of this circle... truly horrible human beings... says a lot about the type of politicians that spawned this Tea Party/facts are for suckers/never compromise approach. Norquists' "never raise taxes" pledge he forces on all GOP candidates is a ridiculously simplistic and moronic approach to governing. But the morons who like "simple" love shit like that.

Adding or bolstering the political operatives were a network of burgeoning think tanks, the crown jewel of which was The Heritage Foundation (Mandate for America came directly from them, not Gingrich.)

And, of course, this was also buttressed by Rush and then Drudge and his ilk joined the fray.

People often try to pin the state of the Republican party and the mouthbreathers that watch that Fox News on the current state of our society. Fox was spawned from hell until 1996. The root of all this started at least 25 years before that.

I agree with LJam.

A left leaning person could break down any right leaning platform or commentator on a platform Fire Joe Morgan style and the right would cry foul. Yet, they will continue to divide and say incendiary shit under the guise of "telling it like it is." For fuck's sake, Alex Jones was given credibility by the president and that guy pushes Sandy Hook false flag conspiracies. But oh no! An accent was made fun of. How dare you improper liberals make such commentary. Complete double standard.

It's why on some level I agree with Kathy Griffin and her whole severed head thing. It wasn't art, but it was a statement. But the left was super quick to beat her up and take some faux moral high ground. It's why they lose elections -- pretending they are above the Trumpian level of decorum. Trump is the fucking president. Wake the fuck up! Remember when tweets were beneath people? Well that's official correspondence from the president.

Kimmel really should've told Hannity to go and get fucked. Not apologized to gay people because it could've hurt their feelings because he intimated Hannity gets erections because of Trump.

If this blue wave happens in November do we really think things will return to normalcy? Nope. And eventually Republicans will win control again. We're in a downward spiral and some people seem to not realize it.

Agreed but I've said many times the definition of Conservatism is to obstruct change and protect traditional values and the definition of Liberal is to embrace change and be willing to discard traditional values. So how is it even possible to fight fire with fire.
